Change Trade Embargo Mechanics
I believe that trade embargoes are a portion of the game that is fairly mundane, but could become interesting if changed. Currently, trade embargoes can really only hurt you if applied en masse by AI. If a player uses a trade embargo on you, then it’s more of a disapproval than a concrete attack on your country. So here’s my idea. I’m CoW, you can play the whole game without trading and still be fine. However, in real life, trade is a significant factor in a country’s economy. You can assume that there is trading going on with every country. This should be a significant part of your money income. Because of this, if a country trade embargoes you, you should lose some of your income of money. This should be proportionate to what percentage of the world that country controls. If a country controls 5% of the world, you should lose 2.5% of your income. If a country controls 20% of the world, you should lose 10% of your income. This can make mass AI trade embargo extremely dangerous. This can also lead to more cautious playing, and add a new layer of strategy.
