Changes in mid-game

So our allies can't give/loan us troops anymore...ok. But why change it for on-going games???? I had an ally moving an ACC down between SA and Africa that I was going to borrow in a few hours and use to get my planes back home as there is a threat way up in Europe. He has been moving that ACC from up by the Carolinas since yesterday, I am finishing off a country in the US and we had the timing all figured out and then wham! A game change in the middle of the game!!!

So now I can't get my planes back for at least another 36 hours while the enemy will take out half of my territory that I own up in Europe.

I am not against game changes/improvements but not in a middle of a game! This really does affect the outcome. :wallbash

When it comes to these sort of thing, some parts of the game are "map centric" meaning that they are a part of the map file, and could be varied based on map settings. The changes to map centric parts of the code will only affect newly created maps. This can include specific units, research settings, and things of that nature.

Other things are a basic part of the game engine, and are not designed to change based on the map. With these fundamental parts of the game engine code it isn't possible to separate the changes only for new games going forward, as this would lead to severe fracturing of the game engine over time, particularly with bug repairs and minor updates.

Of course there is never a good time for such things, and I admit that trading carriers for ocean hopping is going to be sadly missed.

Thanks Vorlon...while I'm at it, changing the 'fees' makes absolutely no sense...why in the world add a layer of fees? Make things cost a little more if you want but to add a 10% and show it like a tax?

Again, I am fully supportive of changes to enhance/make game play better but this doesn't do either.

Sadly the market fees are a case of a small segment ruining it for everyone else. The multi account cheaters have been taking advantage of free trade between any players, so limiting trade to coalition members is necessary. As the cheaters are a resourceful bunch they will turn to the market and run "trades" through there at reduced rates in order to continue to cheat. The tax makes that a losing proposition for them. These changes are just one more step in the fight against multi account cheaters
