Sounds dog-gone awful to me.
CHARGE
I'd like to suggest a button (such as Force march
) that let your soldiers (only if engaged in battle), 'charge' at their opponent and the result should be an instant attack/defense round and following there would be battle resolve every half hour instead of hourly.
If you are "defender", your round would change to "attacker".
If you use the "charge" button you would receive a morale bust. (i don't know how much, but maybe it should based as a percentage of the defenders HP or attack/defend points)
What do you guys think?

Interesting idea @wildL
"I came, I saw, I conquered" Written in a report to Rome 47 B.C., after conquering Pharnaces at Zela in Asia Minor in just five days; as quoted in Life of Caesar by Plutarch; reported to have been inscribed on one of the decorated wagons in the Pontic triumph, in Lives of the Twelve Caesars, Julius, by Suetonius.
"Alea iacta est" Gaius Julius Caesar.
I think the idea has some merits, and it would be nice if people stopped nerding over the choice of the name of the option (Charge). Give it any other name, like 'agressive' or whatever.
There is actually already a way to shorten the battle without doing all this. Pressing attacking in a defensive position has your unit as both attacker and defender. It cant be done, sadly, if you are attacker though.
But the whole idea of having a faster battle altogether at the cost of more losses (say 20%?) is appealing
