This exactly how it works, in Google Chrome. When I click play, it opens as a new tab.

Click to open as secondary page
Hello, when i click 'play now' the game menu opens, when i click a single game of several listed - a new page opens directly to that game and i have to return to the menu to open a secondary, and tertiary, etc. Is it possible to have those pages, and or the website itself, open pages as secondary on the browser tab? it would add convenience in the least.

Chrome. When I click a new game, it opens that page and takes me to it, not keeping me where i clicked. Same?

That is a browser function to open and take you to the new tab.
