The Rising Sun Flag is still used in JSDF(Japanese military) so I think there is no harm.

In my opinion this is silly. The flag is as appropriate as it could possibly become because it represents what the flag actually looked like in real life. It also annoys me that other historical material like documentaries and books are allowed to use all correct symbols but when it comes to games people suddenly become overly sensitive. Anyone offended by a historically accurarate flag should maybe reconsider if a game about history and war is the right game for them?
then why don’t the axis flag use the swatzika? Your answer is just silly and doesn’t make sensefalcon93 wrote:

Did I write anywhere that I think they made the right decision about the Axis flag? But I can't answer for the decisions made by Bytro. I just stated my opinion on why I think that it's silly to exclude historical flags from a historical game. What's the point of having a flag if the flag is not even real?Destructo the Great wrote:

How about you also contact Wikipedia and ask them to replace the flags of various nations?
I’m talking about the pan Asian flag in this game not about Wikipedia
Because as a German company displaying the Nazi flag is forbidden by law, unless you got some exception (like for art or education), which normally games don't have.Destructo the Great wrote:

@freezy ok so can you change the Rising sun flag to maybe a modern Japanese flag
We don't see the need for that, as this flag is not forbidden by law in our country, unlike the Nazi flag.Destructo the Great wrote:

If we ever changed it then probably into something non-japanese and more general asian, because the Pan-Asian Doctrine is supposed to represent multiple Asian nations (for the current one we just picked the most well known during ww2).
not sure if you or company noticed but the german law about nazi flag changed last year, if your game applies to the DE govt and you show them that the game is not condoning nazizm you might get a permission to use it. Just a thing to check for your legal dept, you would not have to fear the law ever again!freezy wrote:

As far as I believe, for most of the part of Asia that was not Allied oriented, they were using Japanese military technology. At the end it was called Japanese Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere.I understand why some nations don't like it and that Japan at the time did no good however this is historic game and we need to learn from history and by no chance should we forget it.freezy wrote:

Forgotten history = repetition
Also, both the flags of the Axis and Pan-Asian are military flags - the Iron cross is still sometimes used in the German Military (bundeswehre)
Dude.
It's a WW2 game.
If you don't like the facts and images from real human history, go play World of Warcraft.
It's not like the game is celebrating any offensive war practices. Or showing explicit images. For every flag on the planet, there is a group of people who hate it, for one or more reasons. Flags represent borders, which are exclusionary, and which are never derived peacefully.
