Hello folks! I made this post previously but my stupid computer deleted it, so this may seem a bit disjointed, just hang in and I'll answer any questions you guys have, just comment them onto this. This idea is basically stolen from New World Empires, as I thought it would be very helpful.
What are the biggest problems currently in the game? Well, one big one is morale. You're almost certain to lose you colonies in historical, and have troubles with big empires in world. I know this isn't a new idea, but I've thought it through:
COLONIAL OFFICES!
They would have to be placed in a non core province, a least 1.5 days from your current capitol. They would give a morale boost to the surrounding area, and cause a morale loss when taken. To counter their power, there could only be 2 in world maps, 1 in 50 player maps, a high price and they must be at least 2 days apart in world maps.
Also, to make them more interesting and add some fun to the game, these would allow for production of
COLONIAL REGIMENTS!
Which I also stole from NWE. They would have a 75% bonus in hills and forests and a 50% in mountains, reflecting how they fight in difficult areas overseas. They would need to be produced in a province with a colonial office, and would be less expensive but also weaker than commandos, and a few might spawn in the start of historical games.
Implementation in Historical:
In historical modes, some nations would start with some. France would get one somewhere in Africa and another in Hanoi, Britain would get one in Nigeria and one in Kuala Lumpur. Italy would get one in Addis Adaba or Mogadishu, Portugal one in Angola, Belgium one in Leopoldville, Netherlands one in Paramarimbo and one in Batavia, US one in Manila.
What do you guys think? Should we have these? Any thoughts on improvements to the idea?
That seems like a combination of forts and militia. Forts increase the morale of their provinces,which then flows outwards into surrounding provinces. Militia is a cheap, weak unit that gets a bonus in hills/forests. In a more in depth game your idea might work but I think for COW forts and militia are a good enough abstraction.
