Pretty sure this has been mentioned before. Maybe we could get combat engineers? Normal infantry, bar being better at assaulting fortresses.
Alternatively, they could be a tank unit that performs better in cities and is better at assaulting fortresses.

Combat engineers don't assault things, take the Royal Engineers, who are primarily for building fortifications, sapping, mine clearance, siege works and repairing railroads and roads themselves. .

Well, what are AVRE for?
If I recall correctly, combat engineers were used on D-Day to cut wire and blow up fortifications. Or, in the case of the Royal Engineers, capture beaches with armoured vehicles.

Some sort of ground based unit besides artillery that would be good at lowering fortification defenses would be nice.

I mentioned Mine clearing, which was their job there.
I was brought up around these people, I live thirty minutes from their RHQ; combat engineers are not offensive in nature, and would be of more use to fix fortifications.

British engineers made the Bangalore Torpedo, and on D-Day did much more than just clear mines. They filled in AT ditches, and used things like Churchill's armed with a Petard mortar. There was also the Double Onion, among other things.

Yea if they weren't so dam slow, which also makes no freaking sense considering they are on a railroad!!! If you have lvl3 Infra. they are railroads but you get no real speed increase for something that uses the railway anyway. Some math got lost on that one I think, lol.

They were incredibly slow in real life.

You're still looking at support works, any engineer unit would have an attack Vs Infrastructure, and rockets do that just fine and would be cheaper.

I dunno. Rockets are one use and slow to move, if they are not in range. Also extremely vulnerable. I just think this unit would be helpful.
