commandos limitations

would like to recommend the idea that commandos be allowed to be made in all core lands not just the capital. it is current not cost effective to get commandos.. keeping them to the core lands would still keep them in balance as you are still limited to where the can be made and the travel time to get them to the forward part of the battle.

No. I will not elaborate, let someone else do that. They're powerful early-game unit to some nations etc

They have lesser upkeep cost than militia....and they got strong damage, SPECIALLY early

I know there upkeep. I have only faced one person who has used commandos. Im not sure if it is something that you have used. But even on day 8 early in the game as mention most of the players i have played with myself included would be opting for something else. unless the capital happen to be so close to the border of and uninvaded land that i was interested in. and even on day 20 building 1 at at time and getting it to the front lines would take a long time and infantry by then would be level 4 potentially. I suppose it would make it more of a challenge to invading armies to face a few of those if they want to invade early in the game lvl 2 infantry is what is available in the same time frame commandos are available for research so day 9 early.

I have not used them at all i will try them just to test my thoughts on them so i have a reference point.

Commandos are basically even more effective than infantry level 6, but most sandbox strategists do not realize it - and experienced CoW strategists only play with as much infantry as needed, but with as little as possible. ;)

So Commandos are and should remain something special and be build only in the capital. :thumbup:

See the stats, same attack values, Inf. 50% more defend, but Inf. = 15 HP and Com. = 25 HP, thats 66% more. ^^

In a direct fight an attacking level 6 infantry will lose against defending commandos, no matter what terrain, vice versa attacking commandos are at least equal.

But no experienced army leader thumps with hammers on anvils. ;)

The advantages of commandos are apparent: lower daily maintenance, nearly twice as high HP, strength bonus in citys and mountains, and they need only one research. :thumbup:

However, you need rare materials and metal for production - so not being able to build Commandos elsewhere than in the capital is also a good protection for noobs... :thumbsup:
