Comprehensive Suggestion List

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Call of War unofficial Comprehensive Suggestion List.

The goal of this thread is to list everything that has been suggested on the forums, and categorize them based on what players want. For now, there will be a simple 3 category system, but in the future I may rank some items depending on how important they are, or the frequency of discussion.

Items in the "Positives" section have a general support from most players, and some are very likely to be added in the future. Items in the "Negatives" section have been discussed and have been found to be a feature that should not be added to Call of War. Items in the "Undecided" category have mixed reviews and probably need more discussion to determine whether the majority of players want them or not. So, without further ado...

1 more idea is there a chance of doing a modern world version of this game or even a cold war version as well?

I would say limit it to 3. It would give an individual some hope of competing, while allowing a coalition to shoot for sharing the win without creating inevitable internal conflicts.

Love the cold war map idea!!!!!!!!!

I want to see a revolutionary war and Napoleonic era map put together with contemporary yet fairly detailed units.

I'd also like to see a futuristic setting of the world map with future societies and units. And maybe even an alien invasion mod for the fun of it. Also, the future society could have aquatic undersea colonies at the water intersections.

Maybe a better direction of the future map would be done in a hybrid of the Pacific Map with several separate underwater nations in the middle of the Ocean competing with each other for resources as well as competing with the old-style nations that are on land. Perhaps even an us versus them map with undersea nations vs. land nations. The Pacific map has a perfect amount of land/sea ratio to accomplish this.

Perhaps one more idea would be a whimsical version where everything is like a Disney cartoon or maybe like candy. There was a game years ago -- called Transport Tycoon -- that had a setting where the world was made of candy and treats instead of normal buildings and trees, etc. It was cute, it was weird, and it was kinda fun.

It seemed like such a waste to destroy an entire battle station just to eliminate one man. But Charlie knew that it was the only way to ensure the absolute and total destruction of Quasi-duck, once and for all.

I want aliens!

no thanks no aliens but a current game or a 60-1992 map would be GREAT id even pay to help get to started!!!!!! also wish you could go to peace with a AI country

you can make peace with an AI. just put your relation to peace and after some time it will change unless you engage each other

you are able to make peace with AI, just set your status to peace, then halt all attacks

I realized that my undersea map idea is just seaQuest DSV (a sci-fi show from the '90's). But I still think it'd be fun. And they could make the game a heck of a lot more exciting if they were to add an undersea layer to the map that you toggle back and forth through. In that undersea layer, subs would be the equivalent of aircraft and you'd need sea-bottom crawlers as tanks, etc.

It could work.

When, in WWII, or ever, did an entire army cross the ocean underwater?

This is not about WWII era. This is about a fictional future era. Nobody seems to understand that -- in a well-written game engine that I HOPE that CoW is written in, changing your maps, units, and even game rules, should be relatively easy. The only implementation issues is ensuring the servers can handle the wider variety of gaming situations that this would bring. I assume that part wouldn't be that difficult since Bytro got a better hosting situation last Christmas.

I don't quite think the map/game mode is quite suited for a game with this as it's logo:

So change the logo or call the offshoot version a "fantasy variation" or some such. OR They could host it under a separate web name (like they do with the 1914 web site). They're all hosted on the same servers, the mechanics of which are irrelevant to this discussion.

Whatever, a game where everything is underwater sounds boring to me.

no no no, not entirely, just parts of it. It would be a two level map (that might require a little game engine optimization). The top layer would be the surface layer. It would have the land, tops of the seas, and the air. The undersea layer would only show the portions where the oceans/seas are and surface vessels would be ignored. This portion of the game would parallel the surface map except that submarines would follow the rules of aircraft (sort of) since they would be floating higher within the seas (as opposed to the surface ships which would in-turn be equivalent to orbital constructs to a surface layer...not a part of this fantasy.

It might be easier to think about the civilzation II offshoot Test of Time that had a mod that showed subsurface/subterranean, surface/land, and orbital platforms. This offshoot had a similar game cousin in a mod of Civ III, I think, also.

I'm not saying make CoW like Civ. But it could learn a few tricks from Civ.

Well, we can't control our aircraft's altitudes so I don't see why we should be able to control our sub's depth. It is only for one unit as well, which ain't that great.

well, for a fantasy version, we might need a seaQuest DSV and some other neato aquatic craft. Actually, for this version, it would make a whole lot of sense to add many underwater "flyers". Though they could follow the aircraft style of game mechanics (making the depth question moot).

I don't think it is a very good suggestion, nor would the devs be happy to try and make considering what Czar has said in another thread.

I have to give credit to you for interesting and very creative ideas here. However I don't think it would really fit with the type of game play they create here. maybe you could pitch the idea of the candy map/fantasy worlds to Zynga or someplace of that nature as that seems to be more their genre..just a thought :)
