Try using Chrome? My messages load in about two to three seconds, on average, and do so even on my old spare PC -- a Vista with only 3GB RAM that isn't good for much other than streaming Netflix on my TV.

The message center is very, very, very slow. Read a message can take from 30 secconds to 1 minute. Meanwhile the firefox freeze completely. Sometimes the firefox show the window "a urresponsive script are taking many resources" (stop it/continue and wait for the script).
This do very unhappy read anything.
I hope i can help

Is the problem with the not answering script still appearing? if so, in certain game situations only or every game even completely new ones? Can you give username and game ID?
Additionally I recommend Chrome as it runs CoW better.
Until yesterday at night still appearing the problem. On a notebook with celeron (of my parents) for every time that i open, the firefox appear 3 times the letter "urresponsive script (do you want stop, or wait)" .
Right now on my main computer Athlon 4 core 8gb of ram, only freeze 15~20 secconds without warning entire firefox.
I think that discover the problem.
When you open message box the system load ALL messages. After 30 days in one team with 11 players the messages are A LOT OF messages. Even the system "update" the messages every XX secconds.
So i think that the system update the message when is not finished the previous update. This overlap the task and overload the CPU system.
Also the system take 100% of CPU after write some in the team chat. Maybe is updating from zero the messages, or maybe some wrong do{}while to wait data, i dont know.

Thanks, I will forward.
I just tested your game in Chrome. No problem occured. In Firefox the map scrolling alone is already pretty slow in your game. Didn't have problems in the newspaper or diplomacy menu though. So I guess they are lagging in your case because the map itself is laggin?
As I said, please try Chrome and see if the problem still occurs.
The delay is daytime dependant.
At my 7:40 of morning load "almost well" the message system.
At my 9:20 AM is "hard to load".
At my 11:52 i have 5 minutes (clock counted) waiting message close after wrote something.
I want add a little consideration: Is not necessary load (and render) 1 month of messages.
Only for examples, and for help you to improve the code i will mention:
1)Ogame (another game) keep messages 2 days
2)web.whatsapp show last 20 messages and load more when you do scroll up
It's helpful to be abke to look back on conversations, so I'd say the second option is best.schlabs wrote:

While I agree that the performance of our game in Firefox is not the best, I think that the particular problem you have is a very special case that nearly no other user should have. I think it can be related to your hardware or software setup of your computer. Especially since you mention that it happens only at certain ponts in time, which would not be the case if it is a general problem.
In your screenshot it appears that you have a lot of tabs opened in your browser. This can be a part of the problem, as Firefox gets laggy when multiple apps are open at the same time. Maybe you should try it with no other tabs opened.
Also as I recommended, please try out Chrome from Google. it is a browser similar to Firefox, but usually runs our game much smoother.
Please take note that the problem is in 3 different computers including Chrome.
Computer 1:Athlon 3400 dual core 8gb of Ram with linux / Firefox (at work)
Computer 2:Notebook Lenovo ( i dont remember model) Celeron 4gb of ram windows 10/Firefox (at home)
Computer 3:Notebook Lenovo ( i dont remember model) Celeron 4gb of ram windows 7/Chrome (at mom)
The time based problem can be due bandwidth usage. While in spain the usual is 20Mb of internet in argentine the usual is 2/4 Mb.
This must add a LAG, the usual lag argentina-usa is 250ms, argentina-spain 350ms. To be clear the time between we do "click" and start any load is about 1/2 second, and if the loaded call more content the load never is lower than 2 secconds.
I dont want start to debug the game script, but i am 100% sure that after i wrote a message the system render 100% of messages from scratch.
