Dear Bytro Developers: Stop Fixing What Isn’t Broken
The recent update included the addition of “Rivers” on the European classic map, as well as more unnecessary AI nations on the map.
In my opinion, Rivers add yet another feature to this already complicated game that there is currently no workaround. I’m specifically proposing a “Land Bridge” building that, when built, would allow land units to cross a river without disembarking, while still allowing naval units to navigate the river.
But back to my main point. If I recall correctly, NOBODY requested Rivers and/or the inclusion of Belarus onto the map. This map has remained the same for YEARS without problem, and there have been NO major complaints or suggestions for the map, rivers or otherwise.
What there HAVE been numerous suggestions about are:
- Ways to mitigate the purchasing power of coiners (I’m aware that War Bonds were recently released, but the mechanics of that are still a work in progress)
- Adding more languages to the game. I’ve seen several requests for Mandarin Chinese, Croatian, and Tagalog recently.
- Adding a unit healing mechanic, specifically a building that expedited the healing process of units.
- More Operations, including new types of them.
- A new historical scenario, specifically one set in 1942 or 1943.

I think it’s time that Bytro should start paying attention to their player community and consider implementing features or requests made by a significant amount of players. Because when player’s suggestions are noted and introduced by the developer, it will make them want to play the game even more.
Will people quit with the hospitals. It’s a terrible idea. Let’s say Bytro does make a hospital building. Don’t you run short on resources all game long that you can afford another building? And then where are you going to build it? Right next to or on top of the injured unit? Or will they have to travel back to the hospital, take whatever time it takes to heal, then travel back to the front lines? if you are an offensive style player-aren’t we all, how else to get vp and win- then you’ll have to build them every few provinces, similar to how to make airfields. No thank you I’ll just try to keeps my units better matched and able to destroy without taking too much damage.and build more airfields and upgrade my production buildings. Then when you your troops are tucked up nice and warm in there hospital beds -boom- stats, rockets, no more building, no more injured troops.

Rivers were actually requested a lot. And to be honest, the 22p map was getting really old, and tweaking it is very much welcomed.
You dont need hospitals. Just return damaged forces to the nearest friendly 'build' facility. Troops would go to a barracks and healing would be like a partial 'build'. Aircraft go to an airfield anyway so could be rebuilt there say up to 50% degredation, below that back to a factory. Warships to a port. It isn't hard. Dont need another building. If you want buildings like hospitals how about prisoner of war camps, the concept of surrender et al.Delmarva pirate wrote:

I really dont know why they bothered. The rivers are like long lakes punctuated every now and then by 'bridges' or crossing points, like the African rift valley for those used to playing the world games in Africa.
Given there is so much else they should put right one wonders at the level of intellect being used here. What next - river barges??

Yeah I was looking for one for a few days. Found it Sun, hence comment above regarding lakes.
You should run out of manpower first and have issues finding wways to invest the other resources, especially in late game. Hospitals are an OK idea, but it's another complication which isn't really necessary enough. Let's first fix the most trivial bugs that we STILL have in the game and only then proceed to hospitals...Delmarva pirate wrote:

Agreed. I never liked 22p (to few players, not spacious enough) 100p is the only acceptable map to me. But the river news almost convinced me to try it. Rivers are amazing, (I can imagine it being very annoying but at least you have an extra tactical choice)K.Rokossovski wrote:

Larger armies destroy enemies faster without taking damage from them.
Build only: 1 military building in each city, airstrips, and recruiting stations to boost manpower.
Minimize research, 2 unit types early, 6 types in late game. Upgrade old units, but: artillery lv1 to lv2 is a waste, only lv1 to lv4 is worth it.

Now we are back to gold diggers again. So on day 1 you cant choose a likely invader and see what forces they have ($50,000 no one is going to have that) or survive a massive gold attack (cant heal much units with $5000 bonds). Great Bytro, you sort of solve the gold problem then within a month completely give in. Pathetic.

They have changed this war bonds thing 3 times in about as many weeks. I am a customer I pay this firm I have a right to complain if I am paying them ok.

I don’t get it war bonds are just another resource. It’s not gold. Yes it will force some changes to strategy, but that’s war and in cow war games. You can use wb however you want to. If your opponent uses it to outplay you then learn from it. How’s that saying “go don’t put new wine in old bottles”.
Seems to me that Bytro is trying to please/ entice people who are not interested (mentally capable and/or lacking discipline) in playing long games. Its modern societies need for instant gratification. That’s why there are sooooo many WaW speed games, 5 min construction times. And war bonds so that the impatient will get an instant cheap thrill.
It does make for new challenges rise to the occasion or fail miserably.
What would be interesting would be to hear from some of the gray beards here in the forum to discuss ways to maximize there effectiveness.

A way bytro could enable river crossing without embarking and disembarking as well as a unit healing mechanic revolves around being able to convert infantry into a medic or engineering unit, in which the engineering unit can construct pontoons when crossing river, as well as create beachheads for amphibious landings on areas without enemy units or defensive infrastructure and medic units merely have to be imbedded with other infantry units to heal them latently.Phillip Bosley wrote:

I don’t know if I qualify as a “gray beard” but I’ll put my input in nevertheless.
It seems that War Bonds have a greater effect on the game in its early stages, particularly in the first few days of the game. What I would suggest is lowering the rate at which War Bonds are generated in the first 3 to 5 days of every game. This would aim to reduce early-game War Bond usage and give everyone a fair(er) start.
