In game 2666623, there is a country called Italy and i did not mean to declare war on him. I was attacking German troops when it actually moved to Italy who declared war on it as well. The problem is that then the game made me declare war on it. Now Italy is inactive and i cannot restore peace. His troops are actually really strong. Can i change back to peace?

you can change it back to peace and the AI will respond within 2 days

If you are at war with an AI country, and you leave ANY border province undefended, you can be sure that AI will attack there. Better to put some defense there and avoid fighting, to go to peace as fast as possible.

AI is predictable - it will counterattack always, and it will attack whatever empty provinces. Of course, the easiest would be to finish him off.
