defence of the provinces

so, i have an idea, what about more defencive structures that do different things, or more like stationary troops

PILLBOX

10 hp, 1 damage tanks, 5 damage infantry

250 goods

MINES

0 hp, 5 damage tanks, 10 damage infantry

100 metal

COASTAL ARTY

like regular arty, but +2 damage to ships -2 damage to land troops

20 hp, 200 metal, 100 goods

ROCKET DETERRENT

has a 5% chance to shoot down rockets, cannot shoot planes

20 hp, 100 metal, 50 goods

UNITS:

MINESWEEPERS

made to destroy mines

150 metal, 150 goods, 500 manpower, 100 hp

keep up: 10 manpower, 10 goods, 15 good

so on, more defencive structures might be fun and can make bloodier wars, and maybe new units like mine sweepers, or letting tanks take down pill boxes really well. they can only be built with a unit in the province. i got this idea off a sky badger youtube video ( comment ) and i thought i might put it here, sorry for bad proportions.

The cost for both of these ideas are not at all proportional to the damage they cause.

I am not a fan of the defensive structure buildables as in my eyes they serve no function in the grand strategy of the game.

Every fort or building still needs manpower to operate. I think the only way to make them work is if they do something new for the same cost as some units. So that spending resources on something standing still or moving will be the main concern. Like the idea of coastal defense artillery or something at the cost and damage output of about what a normal artillery piece has but at standstill.

Also, spending manpower on something that does not move is not something you would want. Especially once you extand your borders.

i changed the thing there, you make many good points edepedable. i got this idea off a youtube comment, i fixed prices and lowered damage a bit. as regards to your concern to the manpower issue, they can only be built with a unit in the province.

we already have forts why do we need any other structure?

That's the crux of the matter -- and not just manpower, but resources in general -- since in this game it's about to gain enough victory points through conquests (.. under nearly the same starting conditions) ..

.. non-mobile defenses could / would quickly become a resource trap for inexperienced players ..

.. because additional defense-facilities will inevitably incur additional costs ..

.. by the existing fortresses there are already up to 75% damage minimization, in core provinces by homeland bonus even up to 90%, with borders expansion the weapons (units) in there can be taken to the front, and even empty forts will ensure a good morale in the provinces ..

.. but who wants beyond that entrench impregnable, by wasting resources for stationary but otherwise not usable defensive-decor instead of mobile weapons will not be a winner anyway .. :D

Browser games are an ingenious business idea to lure out money ..
..... >> more or less cleverly camouflaged as a real game <<
.... .. so beware of caltrops, spring-guns and booby traps.

Yes thats exactly right. A game is never won by 'just' defending what you already have. So in the grand scheme of things, defensive buildings make little sense.

I think naval guns could be good against anyone who just spams battleships on your shores as their is not an effective counter to them (arty and railguns both do low damage to them). The rocket destroyers would be good but they'd have to be pretty expensive, mobile and late game.

The pillbox could be better like a fort but in a little type of it. More fast to built, and with less porcentage of damage to the troops, like:

.lvl 1 12 hours and 15%
