Your point about healing aircraft got me thinking that it would be fairer and more 'realistic' if aircraft could only be healed whilst on the ground. It would make air battles more dependent on strategy and forward planning rather than constant instant-strengthening to win a fight - which advantages the gold/war-bond hoarder. Plus a return to base to re-fit is exactly how would have to be done.
I say this even though tac bombers are my go-to unit.
