Send it in circles on a forced march, it will destroy itself.
Disband Units
This has been said before, and it is being said again. We should be able to disband units. At day change a bunch of provinces rebelled and I got some crappy militia, it is going to take more than 5 days just to get a rallying point so I can kill it. That is only moving from Canada to Central America. We need to be able to disband units.

The forced march command of an individual unit (or a stack) will automatically conclude when the morale of the unit (or stack) reaches 10%. You can reduce a unit's morale and make it easier to kill, but you cannot kill your own unit by marching it to death.injinji wrote:

Oh, I wish I knew that in game 2,000,320.MontanaBB wrote:

You could then send them to an island country.injinji wrote:

Hmm, nice grammar. Geez, thanks.
I'll assume force marching units, shall just bring the morale closer to nothing. I can not imagine their being a game mechanic where soldiers can exhaust themselves to death. Since units don't really have, sleep breaks, lunch breaks and can virtually be marched around for eternity. I can't imagine Bytro labs making such a conceptual error by having units exhaust themselves to death by forced marches, when they don't even sleep and are on stand by any hour of the day.

Technically Odin is an alien, not a god, per Thor: The Dark World, just a bit of trivia.Quasi-duck wrote:

Whoa, whoa, whoa. I'm the Norse Odin, not that shiny-eyed Marvel Odin.injinji wrote:

Force marching units to drop their morale, making them easier to kill, is really just a waste of KD stats. If you happen to have militia, you are better off leaving them of good morale, and placing them on shores or in forest/hills to be used for what they were designed for.

I thought they were meant to protect artillery from counter-battery fire?WiseOdin wrote:

There are a ton of things militia can be used for, tbh. There was a time, in the early years when the 2v2 map was still good, that I actually did make militia is mass. On the first day. In most instances, however, they really are not the best option. Having one is not a curse, though. Every unit has a purpose, just like chess.Quasi-duck wrote:

I agree 100%. And for the strategies employed by some players in some situations -- especially when defending territories that have lots of hills and forests, militia units can be a useful part of their overall force structure. Militia are not particularly useful to me, because my game strategy emphasizes low casualty rates and a fast-moving offensive posture. For me, militia are the equivalent of dragging a sea anchor behind a 12-meter America's Cup racing boat.WiseOdin wrote:

Those that call them useless aren't that far off. They are inferior to Infantry, the hills/forest boost brings them to equal infantry on the same level. If militia was to become useful, I would go as far as to state their food requirement would have to be much lower, given the fact that they're civilians that are trying to defend their homes. They hardly require food from the government, when on friendly territory, as they would be fed by the townsfolk they are protecting.

I remember that being a viable tactic on the small maps back in the day, I've heard of multiple people doing it. I did it myself actually if I remember correctly, when I was playing with Pablo. It was horribly slow and I would've preferred any other unit, but they did their job.WiseOdin wrote:

Why the heck would you produce militia for sub detectors? That'd be too expensive to do, just send out an interceptor for patrol?
The point wasn't to detect subs, the point was to get rid of surplus militia

oh
Maybe a way to best get rid of them is just to waste them away against the enemy? They will be great meat shields and every little penny helps tip the balance in a battle.
That's what I said, but my complaint then was they are too slow so they can never be a part of the spearhead and are destined to either slow down your attack or remain forever.SpectatorGuest wrote:
