Disengaging contact in a battle.

I cannot seem to be able to disengage units once a battle with the enemy has started. i would like to use this especially when the speed of my unit is faster than the opponents speed to minimize losses. Surely there must be a way to do this as it is often used in real battles. Please help. I cannot seem to find the way to do it.

tthere is no way to disengage contact battle in cow. though, it will be a good addition if it was allowed, with some form of checks such as only strong units can escape, etc

Nice idea, also there should be a button

Saying "retreat"

It is not possible to retreat. If this feature is added it should have some sort of measure that stops a player from retreating whenever he thinks he is going to lose.

i suggest only certain units retreat. The Rear guards will be the slower low hp units that cannot retreat. For example ahigh hp motorized infantry can retreat but a damaged Med tank cannot. Or something among this lines.

How about we allow units to disengage when peace is made or a ceasefire declared? My sub commanders are a law unto themselves and enjoy nothing so much as breaking a newly declared peace by re-engaging with their old enemy.

Even fire control won't keep them in their place.

In real life, that is the usual reason to retreat. The penalty is that retreating usually means further loss at almost no reciprocal damage. For the game, this could be addressed through a one-sided round of combat where the retreating forces do no damage to the other side. Retreats would have to be the reverse direction of the units' arrival (no use of "retreat" to advance through the enemy).

then there would be no use
