I didn't know there were pan Asian countries in Africa...

Africa is the only balanced continent.
Asia should get some axis and south america some allies, and north america axis and comintern ETC
This is a huge problem as it gets rid of doctrine bonuses

I think it's actually good this way. It gives opportunities for all doctrines. If we had (for example) an Allied or Comintern nation surrounded by Axis or Pan-Asian, then caeteris paribus it would often get its arse kicked on day one. Communist China is a fun challenge but for unskilled players is bad enough. Having 1 day's delay or so in most cases before facing another doctrine gives time to prepare for the fight.
I think the historic alignments of countries should be the main influence on deciding doctrine. This is one of the things I don't like about the Pacific map.
Commiefronia, duh. And of course those Comminadians!
Are you talking about @Karl von Krass?Carking the 6th wrote:

He chose Canada in the HWW.
Also, the America Homefront map is waaaaaay too much Allies. I get it's America and such, but still, come on.
America Homefront is already alternate-history-ish. Might as well apply some new doctrines or randomization to it to spice things up.
Pan Asian in the west, Axis in the south, comintern in the Midwest, allies in the northeast, whatever just add some variety.
I'd love to see randomized doctrines, or some sort of options like choose one of the following:
- doctrine
- resource spread
- country location
Make every game different and make players adjust to new scenarios. Homefront map would be perfect for that because it's relatively balanced but boring.
I guess it all brings us back to the ideas @_Pyth0n_ and I when it comes to sub doctrines. Some stat shifts and new aesthetics would go a real long way.
I'm assuming the OP is talking about World at War?Lord Crayfish wrote:

- Pan-Asian is obviously Asian. Asia should be dominated by this doctrine, India and Russia excepted. Communist China is comintern so perhaps the Philippines could be allied too?
- Isn't Mexico axis? Given Canada and the USA, I can't think what would be comintern besides Caribbean which already is.
- I do think we should have more allies countries in South America though.
- I like Africa -- most of the choices of doctrine have justification.
Its a historical based map so most of the countries have the doctrine that best fits them from the WW2 era...
I agree that a commie country surrounded by Axis would be dead meat. Sucks to get Botswana.
The doctrines are so screwed in Pacific, its like its alternate history or something
This is WaW he is talking about I think.

Most of the places that are pan-Asian were conquered by Japan at some point or were part of the Republic of China.
I'm aware that it's odd that Nationalist China is Pan-Asian, but it's better than the other options and it means there's a semblance of balance.

Also to actually contribute to the thread, I like the way doctrines are in their own pockets. Perhaps a bit more variety in S. America (its a bit too Axis for my liking) and N. America, but the rest of the continents are fine IMO.
Theres nothing wrong with Nat China being Pan Asian. Iβm complaining about how New Zealand is Axis, and about how most of Canada is Comintern, and about how some of SE Asia is not Pan Asian.Lord Crayfish wrote:

Works. Gives some balance. SEA had many commie and allied aligned governments.
Ah, yes. The mainland Asian countries that famously fought the interwar-wartime-post war years with Japanese doctrines and equipment.Lord Crayfish wrote:

Their guerrila tactics and strategy wasnβt too far off, even considering German support. For a doctrine called Pan-Asian it would work, regardless of Pan-Asian usually referring to the Japanese ideology.
Ahh, I'm just remembering when Nat. China was once Axis. The good old days...
