The most recent game is down to 3 players at end of day 5. gameID=8255209. I now have to ask the other two players to vote to end the game.
The most annoying thing was getting into a coalition and then having to wait 3 days to join another after the other two players in the coalition dropped out of the game.
The game I played prior to that lasted about about two weeks with most of the players dropped out after 3 days.
Do all the dropouts get a reward for placing 4th 5th and etc?
There should be some sort of penalty for dropping out of a game. Its disappointing and and there is no point in spending time and money on a game that is essentially over in 5 days due to high dropout rate.

No. Fortuanately, at least for those who play the game properly, if you go inactive you lose any potential rewards. The dropout rate is problematic, but as long as you play a large enough map, a significant number, maybe 30 or 40, will stay active until their destruction.

Sorry for this inconvenience but that's the way the COW cookie crumbles.People can't be forced to stay in the game,real life circumstances might be the cause for people to drop out.
You spend your time and money out of your own free will and Bytro does not guarantee that games will be 100% active.
Some maps have players that stays active you can ask around in global chat or experienced players on the forum to assist you with that.

You don't have to wait 3 days to join another coalition. If both team mates drop out leadership falls to the surviving active player. An AI cannot be leader.
So just kick your two former team mates and recruit two new ones.
