Experienced and active gold users

Gold users can be a problem themselves but when an experienced and active player uses gold it becomes near impossible to defeat them.

I am talking day 4 fighting 11 countries simultaneously and winning with like a 12 kda. This is ridiculous and the worst part is that they are smart and they will try to hide it. No massive armies, research or economy but they know every move you make and send you their undying units. And make no mistake they will trash talk you from day 1 to add insult to injury.

I understand that gold is what feeds COW but come on after a certain point it becomes unplayable and simply unfun for the rest. Add an exponential cost when abusing gold for certain functions like healing the same troops, upgrading the same building etc.

Or just simply create a premium account version that allows you to join games where gold usage (or booster cards etc) is not available. I would gladly pay it and i am sure most players that had to deal with gold users would too. And there is still the f2p option for the more casual players in which gold users can be gods and feed COW.

I'm curious what indicates to you that someone is golding? Defeating 10+ opponents with 0 losses is not that hard. Even easier now that we can use war bonds for healing.

The only for sure indicators that I know of are:

  1. a huge army early in the game, or
  2. lots of buildings constructed on day 1.
Just being successful on the battlefield could be skill, or luck, or bad opponents.

Sure these are the two most reliable methods of spotting a gold user and by far the easiest. Also, i totally agree that success on the field can be attributed to mutliple factors.

But here i am not talking about a regular gold user that hoped into a game with little knowledge that tries to buy his win with a large army or insta building day 1.

I am referring to actual skilled players that use copious amounts of gold to aid them on the field. Like healing multiple units that warbonds could only dream, reacting to counter troop movements that they can't see, choosing to attack at the perfect place, prefect time, with the perfect units for the situation.

Could this be luck, skill or simply bad opponents?

Of course it can be sometimes but that's what these players want you to believe when they do it with gold. They will split up their units or rotate them to heal them, they will send some lone units to accidentally scout you if they have time while not building a large economy, producing or researching a lot of units so they can hide in the first few days.

These type of players won't admit it because it will hurt their ego. They will go from being the best players to just good or very good players. They do not care about ruining people's games and wasting their time. The only funny situation for me is when you force them to instantly react when your planes take off but it is definitely not worth the time.

The only other way i see someone achieving similar effects is with many many booster cards. But even then, invading and crushing the 11 biggest countries of a continent that took you 1-2 days to reach on day 4 just because they spoke against you even without seeing the heals or sudden appearance of buildings is just suspicious.

Quit yapping Blud

This is all very vague and unprovable and potentially unfair.

I've won lots of games. In every single game, someone will accuse me of golding. They don't understand how to shoot and scoot. They don't understand shadow patrols. They don't understand rebasing mechanics. They don't understand skip leveling. They don't understand military spies. They don't understand diplomacy. But they are sure I must be spending $$$ to beat them.

It's possible you're right. There are players who like to use gold and know how to play. But in most cases, unless you see aggregious behavior, it's just skill.

Well, yeah indeed it is vague. It would be better to have recorded clips but honestly who would care that much to sit and go through them.

I am not accusing someone of gold because he is good or i am simply losing. These types of people dont know that spies even exist.

And they are not common i have seen like 3 of them at like 20 games out of which 2 were quite skillfull on their own right. But they left such a bad taste that i dont really want to play COW anymore.

Which comes arround to my point about a premium version that allows you to play custom maps that doesnt allow gold. Will something like that work? Will COW get enough funding to sustain itself?

Imoo the 100 WaW game gets the most β€œdetermined”to win this they will do what they have to. So if you want a better chance of having an even game then the 22 map is the best to play. Sure most people leave, but there’s usually 3-5 people who will give you a good game.

That said yes sometimes a big spender will come in- just can’t be helped.
