this would be a good idea, but also bad, troop transports would be able to do the same, also this significtly lowers the chance of you seeing enemy ships, at all, @BMfox will tell you the same thing 'it makes the game more complicated than it has to be...'
fixing ship movement
Maybe it is time to remove the "control points" at sea and allow ships to move like aircraft in a straight line. So much time gets wasted zig zagging across the map and limiting their ability to hit targets anywhere along the coast.

Units on land use waypoints too, planes don't fly into an straight line too, they move from airport to airport and can make quite some detours to get to their destination. Same goes with navy, there are waypoints at sea. Without waypoints you would be unable to defend yourself or put up a naval blockade. Even in warfare ships they ZIG ZAG, this way it's too difficult for the enemy to know which direction they are going. If all military units would move in a straight line then the game would become very predictable.
I'm observing the more forum users lately propose their ideas without thinking them trough. Instead of just throwing an impulsive idea into the world it might be better to let it stir a bit and to make a detailed proposal to convince other forum users and the devs with your idea.

I understand planes fly from air base to air base but you can send them in a 360 degree direction from a base......and yes I understand about blockade, but that also means they can put subs on the way points and find troop movements very easily......as for zig zag you can set them up yourself....have way points off the coast but then let the ships move in a straight line if they want, just like aircraft from land bases. Or fix the way points so you have choices in which direction you want to go, not be forced to go on zig zags that add hours to a movement
With the waypoints the Zig ZAG naval movement is made for you and at every waypoint you can chose to go either N, E, S or W. If there would be no more waypoints it would be near impossible to find enemy ships. The Ocean has many dangerous currents that aren't sailable. For that reason there are trade routes at sea that ships follow. There are also military routes at sea from one strategic place to the other. All those are connected by what are in Call of War waypoints. And yes enemy navy will patrol those waypoints to safeguard them because they are both important to their trade and in a military point of view.

that is the point......you have to look for the enemy, not have him dropped in your lap or give him your ships just as easily......allied shipping constantly changed shipping lanes to combat u-boat and surface raider threats.......if you are trying to say it makes the game fair.....then you need to fix the troops each country has......Italy had inferior weapons but you make Italy strong by giving them German weapons as an example......The US was supposedly the arsenal of democracy, but in most cases it lags far behind in economic strength in the beginning unless you stop building troops until you have built up the infrastructure
so, say this was added ot the game, we would have to add the tides and lower the speed in some places, also it makes it impossible, a ship cant just slip by the smallest hole ever to invade your unprotected land, can they? also this game is balanced as it can be, now your just critizing BytroLabs for getting the troops 'wrong'. everything is balanced, and if you dont have time to build anything, thats your fault for not being on enough, this is litterally just decribing the truth, italy did suck, and the US didnt know it was going into war until 1940 when Pearl Harbor happened, then they started to make factories after that, not before.

A small detail the avocates against waypoints forget is that in Call of War she navy aren't equipped with radars. Players cannot detect where a enemy fleet could be. And it would be near impossible to implement this. The waypoints are the next best thing in the hope to locate the enemy.

I was only trying to suggest that maybe see if ships can have the same movement as aircraft and maybe add the feature of "patrol" to them so they can "search".
On another point.....maybe look at removing nuclear weapons as option as they were in their infancy, but here anyone can make them in time......just trying to offer suggestions based on conversations with other players from various scenario's

For what concerns the nuclear weapons, you make a fair point. Maybe start a separate thread about it?
