Fog Of War

For whatever reason Bytro have decided to make your own territory invisible unless you have your own units there or share mapped units. This is ridiculous, considering the fact that you can see 100% of your own territory in S1914, and that game requires you to have a unit in every province! The scale of CoW is much smaller, with people fighting with 10 infantry units rather than stacks of 50, 500 or even 1000. In S1914 where it is even easier to get intel on your own territory (there is at least one unit in every province) you can see all of your territory, but CoW, where you might have only 15 units and 20 border provinces, you are left in the dark! It makes it literally impossible to defend 100% of your coastline as an island nation and generally makes the game less fun because people can easily land their entire army overnight without much difficulty, and then wreak havoc on your territory without you even knowing what's going on unless you fly aircraft over the area. It doesn't make sense for an army to be able to rampage through a territory without the player being able to see them.

My suggestion: Any unit inside your territory is fully visible, with the unit displaying full information. In addition, the strip of visibility that extends into your neighbouring countries should display the unknown army card. So while unaware of the exact size of the force, you are still aware of enemy units positioning themselves on your border, or advancing towards your territory in preparation for war.

I like it, except for the units. It should only be within the view range. Otherwise it would make invasions very easy.

Lol @ bill replying to my thread within 2 minutes. Anyway can you please clarify what you mean by your comment? Are you saying that there should be 100% visibility within your own borders, but that visibility into other player's countries should only be afforded by units visibility?

Yes. Have the current field of vision on the borders but you can see everything within it.

This could be further expanded if you added "Guard Towers" to borders, thus extending view range and allows you to have early warning of invading units.

Spike, we have talked about this many times before. Except it was road blockades, forts on the road and radar stations.

Radar stations/early warning stations upgrades for territories would be a interesting way to go. That way you don't inherently get sight lines but can upgrade to get them. Added game dimension

Exactly. It would also add more strategy to the game. I also suggest that when you are at war with another country, and the border is filled with hedgehogs, they should slow mechanized movement by 15%-20% when crossing an enemy border. Then people wouldn't be spamming light tanks to try and conquer vast amounts of territory within a few hours.
