Food Resourcing in the 100-Player Game

I enjoy playing this great game, the politics entertains and most of the mechanisms seem to work. However the food mechanism fails. Expansion allows some increase in production, but the population increase demand places a costly constrain to the game.

I suggest more provinces are given food resources, say 200 as a base capacity. If every starting nation was given 1 to 3 of these low capacity food capabilities, then I believe a more structured balance can be obtained.

PS. It would also be beneficial to have provincial capitals available as buildings to improve morale at a distance.

Both of these suggestions and the problem they address have been discussed before, just take a look at the forum, you'll find many different additional viewpoints and suggestions.

I hope this helps

Sorry, but I never have any food issues. Not even on the 100 player map.

With even more food, the maps will be to easy for those that are unwilling to learn the game and/or do any planning and just want to go about bashing noobs ... or actually: bashing bigger noobs than themselves.

There simply are no food issues if you develop your food provinces.

I am at 550+ VP on 100 player map and have a mere minus of 74/hour and that minus is decreasing with every development I do on my food (which is very little: only 4 food provs have factories, some have roads, most have nothing).

As soon as my development of the food provs gets started, I will be drowning in grain again.

I maintain that food issues are merely a result of bad planning.

100 player map - Indochina - day 32 - rank 2 - 412 provinces => -1/hr food deficit ....

there is no food issue, that is if and when ...

...you spend some thought and time and resources on developing your food provinces.

And since this exactly the same issue as already addressed by many in the following thread:

https://forum.callofwar.com/index.php?thread/3295-food-issues-on-the-100-player-map/

there is no need to continue discussing here.

Pls close the thread. Thank you.

After i conquered 2 capitals, now i have -66 food ;) But how long ? You talk with 300+ prov ? You fight against AI, inactive players ... I fight with a continent 4 active players and that moral kill me ;) But of course... if you play against AI or Inactive players you have time to build ...

Again, i dont know your capabilities... but you are ... i cannot defend my terittory against kids who have 100 prov, and have all province on the same area ... they have the same army like me but with 500% less prov. to defend.

I like this idea, it would give more balance to a nation.

"I came, I saw, I conquered" Written in a report to Rome 47 B.C., after conquering Pharnaces at Zela in Asia Minor in just five days; as quoted in Life of Caesar by Plutarch; reported to have been inscribed on one of the decorated wagons in the Pontic triumph, in Lives of the Twelve Caesars, Julius, by Suetonius.
"Alea iacta est" Gaius Julius Caesar.

Lack of skill is never a reason to rebalance a game.

Are you even number 1 in economic strength/production? If not:

AND SO FORTH.

As you can see I am forced to build more on grain and just started some 10 factories extra, because due to recent conquest in North America, my food dropped a small minus:

">

This minus of 100/hr will be gone within 1 day or at least be reduced to like 10-20 or so. In 2 days I will be a 100+ again.

See my empire PLUS some 20 provinces in North America

This last picture is the give away:

Just build your ff-ing economies! Lazy bastirds!

Since the old toppic got closed, lets use this one to take a better look at the rebalance of the food distribution on the worldmap. Now every nation starts with 4 tiles of food. This will really help conquering the enemy lands and provide your new people with something to eat. Some people still complained of a lack of food, so lets take a look. How much is there produced and how is there consumed by civillians.

I picked Romania as an example of an conquered country. Romania under foreign rule will produce about 2267 food/day without any production enhancement like infrastructure, naval bases or industrial complexes, but with 100% morale. The total civillian consumption of Romania would be 2545 food/day (I substracted the barracks food production because it adds up to the civillian food consumption of provinces as a bug).

2267/2545 * 100% = 89% of the total food production can possible be achieved if you have no food production enhancement in the foreign coutry, but 100% morale.

This is a lot better than what it used to be for most countries. You will still need to upgrade your food production in non-core provinces, it will slow you down a little and having to many wars for a long time will really cripple your morale and thus your economy, but it's by far not as bad as it used to be.

It is not slowing down anything. It is an intrinsic part of the game....

With the food improvement, the game has become a lot easier to play, but the basic requirement of developing your economy and industry remains. After all, this game is not just about throwing armies at each other, but about strategy, and strategy entails every aspect that matters to achieve your goals.
