GOLD REPORT

I know you guys need to make money and I don't want to get in the way of that but gold can kill the game sometimes. I played the Avalon Hill games back in the 80's when you had to sit across the table from your opponent and accept the die roll. Strategy games meant you had to employ strategy to win. I am so hoping this will fill that old itch! In C.O.W. I build with that in mind and maneuver my forces the best I can but just the other day, this guy marches across France to reach the English channel and quickly buys a 17 ship fleet when he gets there ...whats the point of closing sea lanes? Or even thinking strategy? I see guys running around in 71 unit stacks caterpillaring around the map and when I land behind their forces they just build a new 71 unit stack there! Whats the point?

Could you please:

1) offer "No gold" game option where players have to buy or "Ante up" to get in. That way you still make money and we get to actually play a game.

2) Offer a gold report on gold usage of a game.

3) Allow ranking to reflect gold usage or separate rankings by "gold" - "no gold" so we can know is if we are facing a player or banker.

Don't get me wrong, I buy and use gold. It has its place. I just want to know who I'm playing. If a game is full of ALL gold players then I can shop for a new game. If I keep wasting 10 days of building and thinking about strategy just to quit because I see guys buying ridiculous armies by day 4...then I cant see the point of playing. I know many guys that feel this way. We had a private "no gold" game but it just turned ugly because there is no way to verify if anyone used gold. Two guys said they will be deleting their accounts. For them it was the last hope for a real game...I'm close too! Which is too bad because this could be better than World of Tanks!

Try Players League which is supposed to start Feb 1 for the 2017 season. They are "no gold" games and monitored for infractions, but each game stops on day 30. You will find it in the Community section of Forum.

Otherwise find players of like mind and play smaller maps together 2/4/10, or found an alliance dedicated to limited gold premise to gather like minded players.

Like you I buy gold and use it judiciously (heal units, complete a structure just before log off that is close to completion etc.).

I look forward to the Players League! I have started a new alliance with other players that feel the same way about this game. It really would be good though to at least have an option during game setup that allows you to choose "Gold Report" that give you a report on gold usage for the round. Because I am finding like-minded people but sometimes its hard to believe that a player didn't use gold when you base base your assumption solely on what you see. For instance, I was accused of using gold i a "no gold" game because they said there is no way I could have a large Navy while everyone else was still struggling to build an army. But since they could see all my units, they couldn't see that I was depending on my coalition for land defense and had begun and maintained naval research/ production almost exclusively. They didn't know because they met my Navy and it was strong. It would just help keep trust and friendship growing in a game that is on the brink of being great. On a side note, funny you mention use of gold to finish an action just before logging off...that is so true, particularly when it comes to research.

Have looked everywhere...except one place obviously...and cant find the rules or sign-up for players league---->never mind...found the thread but cant see what the rules are and how we sign up.

Miech just posted a little while ago. Game might start late, rules are almost finished. Just keep checking into the Community thread for updates.
