..Regarding the feedback to the map: We know that players start with negative production, but we think this is fine, as it gives a little incentive to go out and fight right away. That should prevent players from just turtling, waiting until the other players killed themselves. We want everyone to get involved in the fights right away, so from our view it's fine.
..
On all other maps you can buy manpower like other resources with gold, should Bytro has forgotten this source of income on the Arms-Race-Maps? Or have you not yet found out that it is, and why it is so?Desert Fox wrote:

Somehow also Event-maps have to bring in their costs...

this is one of the major challenges of the map. the game starts with 5 level 3 barracks already erected. it also starts with a bunch of infantry units. A BUNCH! so, mp is indeed negative, as is grain. u may not have noticed , but rare is also exceedingly...rare. if u dont manage things just right, from the start, u will find yourself in deep trouble. I'm not gloating, but i had my manpower and grain "in the green" on day 2, because i recognized the problem immediately and took steps from jump to correct it.
1. i used all that infantry to take some AI provs. i didnt waste them, but i "used them up"
2. I turned off the barracks to get my food up.
3. i used my rares to build in food provs
4. when my food got up there, i turned my barracks back on
5. i built units that were useful, and didnt need a lot of mp
Now i am positive in all resources.
good luck. its only going to get harder because there wasnt a lot of AI to build the market up to start with, because its a homefront inspired map (50 player) with starts when full. Therefor there were few AI to start with, and as the AI dwindle, the market will be drying up, too. as a matter of fact, in my game, it already has. i hope you have some generous allies.
PS. I havent used one drop of my precious gold. im saving that for when i am actually up against the ropes, not to correct mistakes i made.
