Helicopter Units

The Helicopter Unit is different from that of a plane.

1. Helicopters can go longer without tank refill

2. Helicopters can have transport infantry units over short distances, (unlike the paratrooper) The helicopter must land then then unload (Takes 10 mins to unload and load) so this makes it susceptible to getting attacked

Ah wait, just remembered that helicopters came after WW2. I guess something to do if they make Call of War 2020 rounds lol

Hmm, interesting thanks

You might check out sister game Conflict of Nations, which uses the same game engine but has a more recent time period, so units such as helicopters and paratroopers exist there.

As it is a sister game your same account and login information will work there. Same for S1914 and New World Empires.

War is a game that is played with a smile. If you can't smile, grin. If you can't grin keep out of the way til you can. - Winston Churchill

The U.S. produced 300+ first generation Sikorsky helicopters, the Germans produced ~20 autogyros, for a total of fewer than ~350 total "operational" copters through 1945. WW2-era copters were more of an experimental novelty than a full-fledged aircraft in the operational inventory, largely because their usefulness was restricted to carrying a single pilot and passenger (or the equivalent ~200 pounds of cargo), search and rescue, or light reconnaissance duty. None were equipped for combat because of their relatively low speeds and their inability to carry any sort of heavy weapons. The technology was not really ripe by the end of the war, and small fixed-wing aircraft remained better at performing cargo, passenger and reconnaissance duties under all but very limited circumstances that required a vertical takeoff and landing. The first truly mass-produced helicopter was the Bell H-13 Sioux, which first entered military service in 1947, of which ~2,500 were produced. After the Sioux, bigger, faster and more powerful helicopters were produced in the early 1950s.

Given the limited utility of 1940s helicopters, I'm not really sure what an in-game helicopter unit would add.

Due to the fact that the tech tree has tech that is as late as the 1960s (with one, the nuke carrier, being as late as the 2540s), that shouldn't be a problem.

"Realism" has naught to do with CoW, or any other Bystro developed game.

"Modern" warships must go dead in the water to use their main battery?

C'mon man, 17th century sailing ships could shoot on the move.

Let's not make the anachronism problem any worse than it already is. Besides, for what exactly would you use a helicopter unit? Helicopters weren't used extensively for combat until the middle of the Vietnam War (c. 1965), and initially they were used mostly to move troops. That would make them the latest tech in the game.

BTW, what does "as late as the 2540s" mean? I am confusted.

I mean't nuke battleship, not carrier.

Ah. You were being funny. As in, "it's 2018, and no-one has ever built a nuclear-powered battleship."

If you could move infranty regiments with them from one point to another more faster then on land, then i am changing my opinion in having them.
