Ukraine had strong connections with Germany... you mean like, they were invaded and brutally exploited by the Nazi's? Because if so, Poland, Yugo, Greece, France... all Axis.
In multiple Call of War maps, make countries with connections to Germany or Germanic culture (ex. Romania, Ukraine, Lithuania) use the Germanic (Axis) Doctrine
It doesn't make sense that countries like Romania, Ukraine and Lithuania use non-Axis doctrines in some game rounds and Axis in others. They had strong connections to Germany in WW2 times, so they should be Axis doctrine, right?

Yes strong connections to Germany in WW2 when Germany was at its might but when the Soviet started "liberating" these countries from Nazi rule, the connections got strong to the Soviet.
Maybe it's to balance the doctrines out on different maps different scenarios. At least with some countries you get to play with different doctrines

I think it’s meant to replicate the Ukrainian fascist collaborators that worked with the Nazis in WW2. While Russian propaganda is wrong and they were not very significant, they are the closest to being Axis out of all Soviet states which is probably why they got that. Russian empire should be allied if they care so much about doctrine balance, though. This person also has no idea about the culture of those regions.

It would be a bit unrealistic to have an imperial Russia with allied doctrine.Carking the 6th wrote:

They were in the allied powers, receiving a lot of equipment from them in the civil war and often trying to model their armies after them... They DEFINITELY were not communists. It would make a lot of sense…

You mean the Entant... yes they were, but they stiill had a very different ideology to Britain and France and were at war with them for a lot of history.Carking the 6th wrote:

Entente. They were also often called the Allied Powers. They were closer to them than they were to being communist, and it would bring better doctrine balance.

I guess so... Just I thought that they should maybe be axis.
And that was in world war one... Its not very realistic at all... I dont see why they need to create more fake countries instead of just giving the larger countries more provinces.
It’s the 22 player map, play the 10 or 12 one of you want more realism and less countries.
The Russian Empire after ww1 and having lost of most of their land would probably try to copy and get stuff from their former allies as they rebuild. They don’t like the Germans, Communists and the only people who helped them were the entente… these were also the people with the strongest militaries after ww1. Many minor such as Romania and Czechoslovakia bough their stuff to strengthen their military. Makes sense to want to model your army after them.

Yeah well Nationalist China was hardly aligned to Japan either (unless you count the Quisling Wang Jingwei régime) but at least geographically it makes sense to use these doctrines.Carking the 6th wrote:

The Soviet Union was an allied power in WWII too. For Russian Empire to be comintern seems the most sensible to me at least.
I think Czechoslovakia in 22p should be Axis or Allied, not CominternCarking the 6th wrote:

Poland being Comintern is kinda strange. Allied would be better. Swap Rumania and Ukraine doctrines around too.

I agree with Czechoslovakia, Romania, Poland and Ukraine. The Poles and Czechs are rather trivial, guess where they got a lot of their equipment from? Not Russia, but France and the UK. Romania (and Hungary) of course collaborated and modeled their armies after Germany. Ukraine sent millions of soldiers to fight and die against the Nazis in the red army. While they are probably the closest to being Axis of any Former Soviet countries, and it makes sense form a game perspective, it’s kinda unrealistic.
Point about Russian empire was alternate history guessing, assuming this actually took place. The Soviets wouldn’t sell any of their tanks or equipment to their rival, who would have a smaller population and therefore less ability to implement mass Soviet Tactics. Guess who funded and supported the White army the most during the civil war? The UK, France and United States. A Russian Empire fighting to survive would probably try to buy a lot of weapons from them through Arkhangelsk, and save its precious manpower using their defensive tactics while using allied ability to quickly turn out units to try and rapidly push out an army to face their Communist rivals.
China was different, receiving lots of training and equipment from the Germans, Communists AND allies. Realistically they would have their own doctrine if anything. Still, their mass charges and low use of armored vehicles in the war honestly places them closest to the PAN-Asian doctrine of any existing one.
