Please do a search for your topic cycle9, this question has been answered multiple times from various angles.
AI's stay in your alliance to prevent them from turning on you and attacking your core (after you have expanded and moved units away from starting area).
As for ALL members of your coalition going inactive... I suggest you pick better allies next game. Find an alliance, play with some team mates who won't bail on you.
There is a listing of alliances in the Forum section who are Recruiting. Check it out.

Yes, the alliance leader is inactive. It is causing a bad problem.

Just my opinion but I like the change. Assuming the coalition leader is active, they can decide who stays in coalition. If its a large country thats gone inactive, you don't want them automatically removed, they can and will attack you if AI takes over. Its also a litte more historically realistic.

And There comes the fact where the coalition leader is inactive

When the entire coalition goes inactive, there is no harm to the remaining active players...AI simply takes over and the game continues as usual. This change is good for when a member of your coalition goes inactive - now you decide to keep them or boot them.

If the alliance leader goes inactive, then the other members cannot accept other active people in the coalition.
Then everyone has to leave the alliance and join another one whoch wastes a lot of time.

The active player gets promoted to leader.
If that has not happened its a bug.

How recent was this? it was a bug several updated ago that leadership was not transfered but it got fixed already in the meantime. So if it happens again you can report it as a bug.

Ok so the bug that the leadership transfer for inactives does not work was already fixed end of September. If you say that it happened again 2 weeks ago then the bug might have re-appeared again, I will forward it to our QA.
But if anyone else sees this leadership transfer working correctly or incorrectly, please chime in here and report, it would save us time.

it worked on my current 22 game.
I became leader after my partner had to stop playing for a business trip
