Infantry and Tanks

Infantry are quite slow. I know that if you want them to be faster just produce motorized or mechanized infantry but I have an idea that could be cool. If you had infantry and tanks in the same regiment, you could mount the infantry on the tanks so that they would move faster.

did actual panzer divisions which usually had companies of 8 Tanks carry regiment sized infantry on their tanks?

Is that basically the role of mech infantry. In pan asian, I think the last upgrade show them on a tank. So this just takes away the purpose of that mech and mot infantry, and the fact of making it truly unrealistic.

It was common practice in the Red army. The problem was that the infantry was very vulnerable like that, because you basically have no cover at all when you're riding on top of a tank; so it was only part of their doctrine, which was willing to take (and had the population to sustain) the kind of manpower losses the Soviets did.
