Infantry Motorized/Mechanized skins and Buff?

We all use the infantry, it is the first troop we begin with but not usually end with. But we rarely use the motorized and the mechanized infantry, I propose a buff in order for more people to use them and make them good.

Skins- I think that it would be also cool that we were given a new look to the motorized and mechanized infantry,

Maybe for motorized, it would be a Kubelwagen or a Willys Jeep, for mechanized a tractor or half-tracks which define each country like a german or american half track. This is again, Just an idea.

Speak for yourself, my friend. I used to employ motorized infantry extensively starting in about the 4th week of the game, so I had infantry could keep up with my fast-moving forces of armor and self-propelled artillery. Most of my last five games have played on the bigger maps, and bigger map games last longer, which has now given me a taste for mechanized infantry. Mech infantry is superior to conventional infantry and motorized infantry in every respect -- speed, strengths vs. infantry and armor, AA capability, etc. -- except one: mech infantry is more vulnerable to defending anti-tank and tank destroyer units because the mech infantry unit is a member of the "armor" class, not the "infantry" class. That's important to remember when you're accustomed to using your infantry to overwhelm AT units.

Of course, you have to have an oil production base that produces enough oil to support a large mechanized field army and air force. Unless you are producing at least 8,000 to 10,000 tons of oil, it becomes difficult to justify the additional oil consumption of motorized and mechanized infantry in contrast to the needs of your tactical air force and navy escorts. If you're short on oil, commandos may be your advanced infantry unit of choice, since they have no oil consumption upkeep.

One other point regarding mech infantry: compare the L4 light tank specs vs. the L5 mechanized infantry unit specs. I believe you will find that the mech infantry is a superior and more flexible fighting unit than light tanks. Once I've reached the stage where I can produce mech infantry, I stop producing light tanks.

I was about to say, you must have been loaded with oil. Not many countries are blessed with such profusions of fossil fuel unfortunately. I do agree that they are a very useful unit, though I tend to prefer motorized to mechanized.

No, very few countries are blessed with an over-abundance of oil, and those handful are always handicapped by other resource shortages like a severe lack of metals. That said, oil is more plentiful on the two larger maps. But even there, you need to learn to squeeze every drop of potential oil production out of the opportunities presented, using all available industrial improvements -- infrastructure, industrial complexes, naval bases and fortifications. It's resource-intensive and time-consuming to do it right, but it's a huge advantage in the middle and end stages of the game. I'm playing a game on the basic 22-player European map now, and I am producing over 16,000 tons of oil per day; my last game on the 50-player Pacific map, I was producing over 30,000 tons daily. If you want to have big, mobile, fast-moving armies, you need to learn to exploit all available oil fields to their full potential. And you need to learn to properly budget oil consumption among your various oil-burning unit types. If you're still relying on the all-tactical-bombers-and-light-tanks strategy, you have a very one-dimensional army that can be pulled apart like warm bread by an experienced opponent who knows how to exploit its many weaknesses.

alright, I'll try the mech infantry out, I've only used it a bit and know I will use it more often to see its potential.

yeah, but now I think I'll start using infantry more as now people are saying that its useful fast and efficient.

I use my mech infantry and motorized infantry along with other infantry to attack urban terrain.

Motorized infantry is armor class of infantry.
