It's time to vote!

Greetings Generals,

Time has come, time to vote, vote the map or scenario you like the most.

We're thrilled about the fact that we received so many ideas from the community, no less than 60 different ideas for maps or scenarios!

We're delighted that participation has been so high and the least we can do it is to thank you for the support given in this collective project!

Due to the amount of proposals, we thought that having 3 rounds of voting is the best:

  • The first round will include all the proposals and you'll can vote for up to 3 proposals. From 07/21/2016 at 00:00(West European Summer Time) until 07/24/2016 at 00:00(West European Summer Time)
  • The second round will include the 10 most voted proposals from the first round and in this round you'll just be able to vote for 1 option. From 07/25/2016 at 00:00(West European Summer Time) until 07/28/2016 at 00:00(West European Summer Time)
  • The third round will include the 3 most voted second round proposals and like the last one, you'll just be able to vote for 1 option. From 07/29/2016 at 00:00 until 07/31/2016 at 23:59.
Informative Note: West European Summer Time is the time of London, Portugal and Canary Islands.

How to vote?

We wanted to make voting simple and easy for all of us, but we also wanted to be sure that there's no security flaws. Thus we enabled a link to a Google Form poll, where you can join click right here. To answer to the poll, you'll have to login with your Google account.

Informative note: We added the login with Google to be sure there will only be 1 answer per player.

We also thought about the fact that some of you may want to help with the map which will be sent to Bytro Labs, thus we're going to give you that possibility.

For it, you must contact one of these 3 staff members using conversation in the forum or by PM:

Tell us why you think you could be useful for this project. The more information you provide it will be easier for us to know exactly how else you can help us. This help will be fully volunteer from your side.

Don't wait, Vote now!

Better get the word out to the other servers!

A Polish-Lithuanian war would be a map that is as played as the 4-player map is now!

Killings my business, and business is good!

Same here.

Advertise the poll on all the English servers!

Why are you all upset about it? If people want it, they will vote for it. Either agree with that or ask Bytro to stop asking people what they want. Human mind is so funny. It wants the freedom to have an opinion but hates when others have different one.

The point is that the poll should have been advertised widely to avoid that a small community took a map that hardly will interest the majority of people that play CoW.

What you say is completely true. I agree with you. But I seriously doubt that Bytro will do the Polish-USSR war map. The 4 player map is already a failure. And I guess the new map would only last 2-3 weeks as a 'new' map (meaning that many people play it) in every server bar the Polish one.
The past is a foreign country.

Poll is advertised widely. I saw it mentioned in chat (english server) multiple times. Some people even advertised their own choices. This argument is invalid.

You wrote here a very stupid thing. So, because Polish people (if I understood the statistics well) voted for the map they like and some other people don't like that map, their votes should be ignored? If they voted for some other map it would be ok?

If someone didn't vote, that is their problem. But undermining the voting process just because a lot of people voted for a map some other people don't want is a serious insult to those who voted. I know this game is based on WW2, but let's not behave like WW2 era is now, and valuing someone opinions more that someone else's is exactly the thing that must be avoided.

I didn't vote for any map, and I am not very interested in that particular map and I think that some of the world maps will win, but I hate to see how people praise democracy in deciding when it suits them and reject it when the result looks unfavorable (which is a world trend, anyway).

Personally I'm not upset. It's democracy: the majority wins and I respect the choice made by the voters. That said, since we prefer other maps I think we can feel a little disappointed, can't we? I mean, being disappointed by the results of the poll is different than hating other opinions or thinking that the votes for the Polish-USSR war should be ignored.

The stats are clear, if this was correctly advised for sure the poll would have reflected the distribution of the population in the game, this is statistics, think about say an argument is invalid citing only your chat analysis, that is pointless since you are not on all the time, and you don't know at what time people are seeing the chat. Maybe a ingame message should have the job well.

Of course you are seeing what you want instead of what people write: i did not find anything in my phrase that say that their votes have to be ignored, i say that this vote will took a map that is at best irrilevant for the majority of player, that are not polish and don't care about a polish - russia war. Read well or fire up the brain before answer stupidly.

And who is undermining what? People are simply complaining about a decision that they did not approve, this is the democracy that you are saying that people don't follow. Of course your vision of democracies i'ts true only for you and not for other.

So you are here just for trolling. Congrats.

Did I ever say I was upset? nothing wrong with disappointment. Im going to accept that fact it is an outcome and move on with life. I am agreeing with that fact it's being voted for. I enjoy they are giving us an option. And I don't hate the fact they have a different opinion then me, I just disagree with it, which is also apart of have the freedom to respectfully disagree. So please stop shoving words down people's throats. None of us ever said polish votes shouldn't count, we should hate them for their opinions, etc. Quoting you, the human mind is so funny, people like to twist and manipulate what people say to make themselves feel better.

Lol, I like how you go defensive now but people started with something like "Oh, Polish-Soviet war? Really", "Oh, Polish server voted a lot", "Dissapointed", "Get the word out, lets vote against", "Advertise the poll, don't let them win", "English server, vote!".

Take all that together and you will get to conclusion that votes from english server are more desired from those from other ones (polish, for example). I didn't write anything that isn't already visible in other people's messages.

Nobody is getting defensive. I'll say it again, a polish-Soviet war? Really? Going to be disappointed. There is ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with disagreeing with an outcome of a vote.

And this "democracy" you claim to support, does it not align with one of the biggest and most successful democracies in history? The United States? In which, the FIRST amendment states that people have the right to free speech. Therefore, we SHOULD under your "democracy" have the right to disagree on the outcome.

And I like how you resort to calling us defensive when I call you out on twisting everyone's words.

Make America Great Again.

Spanish civil war

World map with historical borders (including colonies)

Cold war

This latter 2 could open up future and historical timelines with absolutely new units and gameplay experience

With a selection like we had in round 1, you could start up endless amount of polls, there will always be an absolute favourite for the majority of players. I want them all haha!

After the second day of the second round and with 149 votes, representation by community is as follows:

Polish -> 34.9%

English -> 24.2%

Spanish -> 19.5%

German -> 6%

Italian -> 5.4%

Portuguese -> 3.4%

Czech -> 3.4%

French -> 3.4%

Dutch -> 0%

Russian -> 0%

Japanese -> 0%

A thought occured to me. Are you checking if the email account of someone who votes under some CoW account is the same as the email account which was used to create that CoW account or random people can use random email accounts to pretend they are other people? Since external poll is used, I think this question makes sense.

If you want to vote you must have a google account. Since when I created my CoW account I didn't use gmail, for the poll I had to use an email account (my old gmail account) which is different from the one used to create my CoW account. I think I'm not the only one.

So, I can create a hundred new accounts, log in, choose a random player nickname (which exists in game) and vote for something. If those people don't vote themselves, everything is good. I can influence the voting the way I want. Of course, this is only an example. I will not bother to do it, but some people probably will. After all, there is no way to track them.

EDIT: I just wanted to point to very possible flaw that can be abused easily.
