It would be nice to be able to play games with more aggressive AI's

After a while playing against the AI is just too predictable and not much of a challenge because even if you mess up the AI isn't usually aggressive enough to take advantage of it. It would be nice if you could choose different levels of AI to play against, especially as sometimes so many players drop out that you're basically left playing against the AI.

I used to think this way. The AI could be made to perform better with very little effort. Just make it impossible for the AI to build most structures, units and associated research. We know the AI will never use air power effectively, so just turn it off. Special tab, turn it off. Make it only crank out simple units like infantry, AT guns, armored cars. The saved resources would make the AI much more effective without touching a single line of code.

The problem is that most human players are already much, much worse than the AI. They already get crushed by the AI, as bad as it is. Making the AI better would drive more new players away from the game, and we really don't need that.

Some games have 'elite ai' setting where ai is smarter and stronger. they make same amount of resource but the use it more wisely.

IIRC you can turn on elite ai in custom games if you have premium

Stay Sweet!

Yes after a while playing COW the AI becomes predictable. The small AI countries are easy to beat what makes it a bit more of a challenge is when actual players go inactive after building up a country with a solid army.I remember a Finland player going inactive after conquering the whole Scandinavia, northwestern Russia and started with Poland invasion. When I entered the Finnish core provinces two rail gun stacks were waiting for me, one of the stacks had 31 militia, SP artillery, SPAA, tanks and infantry. That was almost a challenge but one predictable thing the AI does is, splitting up its stacks,so in the end it was easy to handle it.

The AI shouldn't be too much of a power because as Zoom mentioned, that will make people less interested in the game.I agree that fighting AI all the time does become boring.

The next map you play try taking 4-5 AI's on it will make it a bit more challenging.

My experience is the AI becomes more progressively a PITA after the game gets past about 15. Not because it gets smarter but because you start to run into nasty stacks of 20+ units in some AI cities. It's like the AI did nothing in these cities but build units every 8 hours for 15 days.

I hope for the opposite. When you kill AI they dont have feelings. Even worse is losing to AI.
