Katyusha Rocket Launchers vs Soviet ACs

I am currently discussing with Butter Ball Bill about the possible existence of the German Haunebu (some kind of UFO). I say it doesn't exist. However, the way we started discussing about it is by debating whether nations like Germany and the SU should have ACs in the game, because they never developed any. It is of our opinion that some nations should have something instead of ACs. I say that the Soviets should have the famous 'Stalin Organs', the rocket launchers, as they the first to develop them and the best.

The past is a foreign country.

Yes, we all seem to disagree on the reality of things.

I like giving rocket artillery to the Soviets, but not super heavy tanks to the Germans. They were only prototypes, after all.

The past is a foreign country.

We should make a poll for it, let me do that.

We could use them for recon maybe?

There were no helicopters in WWII.

Also I'm unsure what the OP was referring to when he said Germans didn't have "ACs", does that mean armoured cars? Germans had plenty of armoured cars in WWII.

in this tread AC means Aircraft Carrier, also there were helicopters in world war 2, prototypes and saw little to no use in the war other than recon.

I stand corrected. The Germans apparently produced a total of 24 small helicopters in WWII which were used mostly for observation. The US produced a few helicopters which were used mostly for rescue. I knew helicopters were under development late in WWII but didn't realize any were actually operational. But given that their use was so negligible, it would I think be ahistorical to include them in a WWII game. Since this game also nominally extends into the 1950s, I guess helicopters could be included as a late option in the tech tree, though in what role I'm not sure.

I don't even think during the Korean war they had any effective combat use, only transportation until later in the Cold War, they really would have absolutely no combat use in a WW2 game even in a late tech area unless you want to go into a post Korea War tech area around the 1960s im afraid.

Really the only way you could find a logical reason to include them in the game in say 1955 era tech, would be to quickly transport 1 infantry unit per 1 helicopter unit in a short area around an airbase, which could be useful in some a few situations but probably not enough to justify putting them in the game.

I guess the countries cannot have different tech trees for balance reasons and gameplay, since this is just abbrowser game and it's supposed to be easy to enjoy.

As a Hearts of Iron player, I remember that you can research helicopters in very late game to rescue, so I guess they wouldn't have place here as weapons...

And I'm sure that Haunebu is as true as a 120 years old Hitler living in Argentina.

Hitler died, the Reich didn't. It lives on in Antarctica.

The Reich died too, but the legend of the Haunebu didn't. No women in the Antarctic base, so no new generations.

The past is a foreign country.

I disagree, a base was already established and was stocked up with everything throughout the war.

Except women. Nazis thought they wouldn't be able to cope.

The past is a foreign country.

Have you looked into this?

Yes. There are two theories. One is the base was only for men, so they ended dying. Another is a special unit of Aryan women were sent there.

But the first one is the most probable. There is also, of course, the theory that the Nazis never had a base. I believe this one.

See ya. Hafta go.

The past is a foreign country.

A load of subs(any remaining ones) were sent there at the end of the war, filled with supplies, which would include women. Even if they didn't, sympathetic Argentina is nearby.

We need to send a battlegroup and our top men to investigate, and have Seal team 6 ready to go should we find Nazis.

Dude, be serious. Antarctitca isn't exactly our backyard, but we have bases there. It's impossible a group of Nazis could live there undetected.

The past is a foreign country.

This thread is way off track. Why are we talking about Nazis in the Antarctic?

Because of Pablo. Anyway, have you ever heard of Operation HIghjump? A couple of countries went to the Antarctic to check it out only to have to leave because of so many planes going missing. Thanks to Neuschwabenland and many subs going south after the war, many people think Nazis are down there.
