We have talked about this, but we have said no to it because I would create a lot of chaos. What about Romania, Hungary, and all of the other non-major countries? Also, it would be unfair because although German tanks were better than, say, their American counterparts, Sherman M4s of all models outnumbered Tigers 50 to 1. What I'm trying to say is that if this game ever implemented what you said, it should also have to implement something to do with industrial power, and since that is pretty hard, we said no to this idea.
Making adjustments to research based on the country you play
My original thoughts on this game are fantastic as is. There are different skins for different countries, and they've done really well in expanding the game so that it has a very real feel. But what about the adjustments for different countries? Countries like Japan had a very hard time building tanks, but their infantry succeeded magnificently. Same with their air power; they had plenty of fighters that were superior to other countries, but then again, that can be shown through research.
It's just an idea. Countries like Germany succeeded in building power tanks that were a lot stronger than other nations. Their oil is low in all maps, so even if their tanks were stronger, they would have hard time having a lot of them, simply to the fact that they don't have the resources for it. Thoughts? Ideas? Countries like Russia could have outstanding militia and countries like England could have superior air power, while United States has unstoppable battleships and things.
Thanks!

Play the Blitzkrieg map, it comes closest to your wish.
The USSR had amazing tanks, some decent planes, and great infantry. Hell, German snipers loved the Soviet Mosin-Nagant so much they took it whenever they could.Royal Fighter1 wrote:

The Soviets also had some of best artillery of the war. Not the best, but probably a close second. Americans could target better.
Germans had air superiority throughout pretty much the whole war, and Soviet warplanes were outdated.Quasi-duck wrote:

Are you kidding me? German Hs. 129's only did well when Soviet planes didn't show up. The Soviets had very advanced planes, the LaGG's and Yak's did very well. The Yer-2 was awesome. The IL-2 is considered the best ground attack planes of the war, and one of the best of all time.Pablo22510 wrote:

Your "fact" is baseless.
Dude, it is a fact that at the start of the war most of the Soviet air force consisted of inter-war biplanes. And that they only managed to turn the tide in the air because the Germans simply didn't have the industrial capacity.Quasi-duck wrote:

Sadly, this idea is extremely biased. Whom ever is making up the 'boost' would likely be basing on personally opinion.
For instance:
- German heavy tanks are the best of war- HT attack boost
- British land based fighters out did most enemy fighters- fighter boost
- US carrier based craft are truly amazing, better than the Japanese due to their inability to produce better models- carrier based attack boost
- The Soviets produced mass amounts of tanks to over come poor engineering. The T-34 had an awkward gear change system and was prone to breaking- cheaper and shorter building of armoured and infantry units
- British Carriers are famed for being hard to sink, due to three inches of armoured flight deck- Brit carriers would get increased health
- Italians proved to be amazing in drawing their allies into pointless wars in order to save face, and also failed to have any real decent tanks: extra diplomacy tab "Please help me, Germany!"
- Nelson-class battleships (like HMS Rodney) do extra damage to Bismarck class battleships.
- French have super heavy tank, start the game with a pointless and easily out flanked defensive line.
- US Players have to be attacked before the player can actually do order anything. Boost to player social life as he can't play.
- Brit Sherman firefly's can one shot panthers: 300% attack boost on medium
- British forces have special "Stop- DUNKIRK TIME!" ability: somehow they can we withdraw from anywhere.

And? They were modernizing. At the invasion of France, most German tanks were Pz. I and II's. As at Poland. In fact, all of the German tank designs in 1941 were obsolete. The "MBT" of the German army, the Pz. III, could not penetrate KV or T-34 tanks. The Pz. IV had a short barrel and was for infantry support. None of the German tanks had sloped armour.Pablo22510 wrote:

In fact, the German forces basically had no standardization, they would use anything, and most of their tanks were designed in the 30's. Most of their supply train was horses.
The Soviets may have had a lot of old gear, but the Germans made no bones about stealing French tractors and turning them into SPG's. They were also dumb enough to build tanks that were a bigger threat to themselves than the enemy because the gun would become de-calibrated when it moved and would often break down. Tracks on said tanks often broke and were too hard and finicky to be repaired in the field.
The Soviets may have had a bit of old gear, but the Germans couldn't think on a strategic level.
Or maybe because the German line was too thin, they had poor troops with 20 rifles per 30 men guarding their flanks, and they had no winter clothes. Or maybe because they would let entire armies get surrounded, and instead of disobeying orders, which they had no problem doing in France, they were too stupid to do in one of the bloodiest battles of the war.Pablo22510 wrote:

Perhaps it was because they had units filled with rapists, murders, and psychopaths that would kill as much of each as they did the enemy, and were too poorly disciplined to stop massacres. These units were so bad neither the SS nor the Heer wanted to fight with them.
