I think this has been suggested before and I think it is a good idea

Map views - Coalitions shown
One of the problems in the bigger games is at the beginning there is often a multitude of coalitions.
What would really help is an extra map view, which you can toggle on/off, so as to see the countries by coalition member (or not when there is none applicable). Can be a real pain trying to work that out at the beginning.
Wouldn't have thought this too difficult to achieve.
Thoughts?

Would be a great and very useful feature. I myself needed such tool sometimes. Especially in larger maps as you said.
