morale influences

I seriously think you need to look at the morale influences........first where your Capitol is should have no bearing, second this is suppose to be a war game, having an expansion penalty is counterproductive, and third double dipping the neighbor penalty is just stupid.......listing both neighbor and enemy neighbor makes no sense.

Once a country is eliminated it should have no bearing on the game.....ie the expansion penalty

As for the neighbor penalty, if a country you are conquering has one city left, let if build partisan units to cause chaos until that last city is removed, then the penalty for those provinces goes away.

For the expansion penalty. Maybe they think you are a madman for conquering other countries, but it's most likely a deterrent to expanding too fast.

I agree with you, the expansion penalty sucks. It prolongs maps way past the point of fun and into the realm of drudgery. I don't know WHY the devs want maps to last longer, but apparently they do.

The official reason is balance, giving smaller nations a chance to come back, but this never happens in practice. Once a country (or a coalition) runs away with it, the game is over. There's typically a climax to the game about 3-4 days before it's officially over. One country (or coalition) defeats the others, they fold, and then all you have is the AI and maybe a few campers playing turtle with their doom stacks.

It's hard to explain to the devs, that once the big war is won, we just want the map to be OVER.

You want to conquer fast, not only are you the first to get those resources you also remove the "Enemy Neigbours" penalty, then get your conquered cities moral up so they bring up the neighbouring provinces... and your economy is off to the races.

Expansion penalty as far as I can tell is maxed out at -30, so then it's just distance to capitol that is of long term concern.

Before, you could farm AI Capitols, but now I have not seen a single capitol built by AI's once their original one was captured.

Would make for late game difficulties with moral if games ever lasted long enough

Expansion penalty constantly grows as you continue to conquer, I have one game where expansion penalty is -24.

Hmm.. OK

Never actually payed attention... too busy conquering stuff.

Yeah, my most recent game had expansion penalties of -21 and some provinces had distance from capital at -30 (I had conquered Australia and New Zealand as Yugoslavia). Makes me curious what the penalty for not having a capital is if the distance can get up to -30.

Umm ... Propaganda Offices

If the game would have lasted longer, I would have considered it. I just made sure to take three capitals before the last day change. I didn't have any provinces revolt.
