On day 19 of my 1.5 event I have the largest economy with 150,000 tons also, and 470 victory points.
I have 213 units currently.
I have 11 planes in production and just started 8 more. I could start 8 heavy tanks, but if I want to start a dozen Self Propelled Artillery I will need to purchase 20,000 goods which are available on the market fairly reasonably.
Investing in the economy of your core cities early in the game is critical to having a good economy in the mid game.
