Napoleonic Version

I am just wondering if the games basics could be turned into a Napoleonic period game ? I would go for one if there were .

You are a woke young fellow, aren't you ?

Anyway I would love a Napoleonic themed CoW personally. Used to love playing Risk as a kid so that would be one hell of a throwback

It would require quite a lot of work.

First, there would need to be a coherent set of unit stats, which would need a complete cycle of design, playtesting, finetuning, etc.

Second, some graphic talent guy should make skins for all those units (so you don't have to walk around the board with a cavalry unit that looks like a Jeep)

Third, there would need to be maps for it, or maybe the game could be played on the normal European maps... dunno really.

Finally, Bytro would need to be convinced that this is a viable business case for them (i.e. generate more money then the cost of doing it) and they would need to support the implementation. I'd say this is the hardest part of it, just a few enthousiasts on a forum would probably not be enough to convince them.

I personally like this idea (but I've been thinking about a fantasy version too, with wizards and elves and all that), and I'd be willing to contribute though I could only do that to point #1 above.

We're talking about a whole different/new game here, of course that implies lots of work. Bytro already has Supremacy, CoW and CoN already though, and since modern worldwide conflicts are definitely the most appealing to the targeted audiances I doubt a napoleonic version would gain much traction and hence be worth the hassle.

Then again, tapping into an unexploited theme could be very beneficial to Bytro, seeing as there aren't really any comparable games and considering Bytro makes high quality (in their own respect) strategy browser games. That could also allow them to get past the issue of internal competition : since Supremacy, CoW and CoN all 3 have relatively similar themes (aka modern conflicts) with only slight variations, a complete change of tone could freshen things up and ensure people also keep playing the more modern iterations.

Would definitely love to see it though, pretty sure I'd move to that instead of CoW personally (tho CoW is plenty of fun)

Oops my bad.

And both Bytro Labs and Dorado Games are wholly-owned subsidiaries of Stillfront Group. In other words, Bytro and Dorado are sister companies with the same owners. That's why Dorado was permitted to use Bytro's Call of War software engine for Conflict of Nations, and why players can use the same user name and password for Supremacy, Call of War and Conflict of Nations.

We already made a Call of War like game set in that time period (it spans the timeframe from the colonization period to the napoleonic wars) called New World Empires.

Check it out if you like: www.newworldempires.com

We also made a medieval/fantasy one called Thirty Kingdoms.

You can login with your call of war Account in all those games, no registration required.

bytro is still parents projekt. Gold donate system in CoN is running over Bytros system. I suspect they splitted projcts to safe some taxes bills.
