Mess with the Bill, you get the scorn!
Idea my brother and I had for adding a more strategic element to Naval warfare in the game. Minelayers would be based upon ships like the British Abdiel-class of WWII. (see Here for details). These ships would possibly have characteristics as follows;
Minesweepers would be the counter to minefields, such as the Admirable-Class of WWII, with the following possible stats;

Good post.

Working on the last couple threads; should have them ready by tomorrow.
Also, a reminder to everyone who reads these, Please remember to let me know what you like and if there's anything you would change, and why.
Thanks again!
I still don't like the idea of mines. I think it would just over complicate things, but not add anything fun.
You have my support , a big hello .

I would have to agree. It will make things too complicated. I can already see the massive spamming of minelayers.GreatbigHippo wrote:

Remember, it takes time to lay mines. I hope they consume a lot of reso too.
this will surely block passage to the Med , not sure how combat will work though.
a great idea but most wont pour that much res on the navy, most battle is on land, and even with the pacific or even a world map, i dont think mines is a viable strategy, in an otherwise large map. could help block waterways but that sums it up.
For "combat", the idea was for the mines to behave like a missile: instant damage on contact, with the exception of with minesweepers, which would spend time dredging them.
I see, they will trigger when an enemy is within range. Will the mines cost res? If so how much? And what damage? I don't want to send a fleet on tight waterways where mines can destroy all of them. Do the mines damage is based on the ships stat or have stats of their own? These are really important to consider.
Missiles don't cost resources, so the same idea would apply here (Heck mines from WWII are still washing up on the shores today that work just fine). Minesweepers would be ships that could accompany capitol ships to protect them from minefields. I imagine that their damage would be based on their own stats,James Hylton wrote:
Mines are stationary stealth units with 15-30 attack vs. ships and subs and take 3 hours to deploy. Can be detected by Destroyers, and removed by Minesweepers.

Well, I'm not in charge of the pizzas... It's the Global Institution for Purple Pizzas, or GIPP. Usually people are gypped, though, with their pizza qualities, so the name is quite fitting!Sir McSquiggles wrote:
