New Research times
I just read the patch notes for the updated research times and the subsequent overwhelming number of comments stating how this is TERRIBLE.
The one comment that really made me think was that someone stated it is absurd that you could have lvl 4 rockets and not have touched tech for a 1939 armored car.
This got me to thinking, what if combined with this new faster research tree there was a new requirement. For every new tier of technology you need to have X of the previous Tier. So to get nuclear rockets you literally have to have nearly every Tier 1 tech researched, 75% of most Tier 2, 50% of T3, and so on. This would represent a country having a fully fleshed out warmachine.
Sure you researched lvl 3 med tanks in an effort to defeat the enemies strategy, but that doesnt mean you actually went into production of them. Countless times in war history technologies were made, but under utilized due to a lack of immediate need. Italy came up with countless plans for tanks that ultimately never came to fruition because they had already surrendered and the Germans had taken over what was left of their industry, but they still had the plans for it all.
For anyone that has played Sid Meiers Civilization this would be akin to their tech tree in that to advance to a later age you needed X techs from the previous age. You may not use that tech, but it signifies a level of learning your civilization has attained to reach a higher level of learning.
With early research times lowered drastically this shoudnt be a problem. Sure you gain access to a specific tech on day 16, but unless you broadened your research pool enough you still wont be able to start its research.
That is all, rant over.
Now lets all get back to calling in some more WAR! ![]()
