New Rivers look like they've been drawn by a pre-schooler

The title says it all.

I find it actually embarassing that the makers of a historic-based, "historically accurate" WW2 game can't even put 50% effort into their new map "updates". My 6-year old grandson could have done a better job at drawing the rivers than the Bytro "developers". How much do these guys get paid again? I have to say, there are bad updates, and then there are just SLOPPY updates. This is sloppy to a T.

Can you send a picture of how the rivers look now?

Don't you see them on your map?

Ok then...

Some genius at Bytro has the idea that rivers stop and start throughout! What are they thinking? Did they construct imaginary underground tunnels that the rivers flow through? Or miles and miles of piping to conceal the river? Or a large international project to plant bushes and foliage around the rivers so that it forms a land bridge? And I think these ideas are zany, what they are thinking must be 10 times zanier.

As an added bonus most of them are not allowed for ships to travel through. A real pain!

That might be a good thing.

Battleships, Cruisers and Troop Transports (literally ocan liners) MUST not be allowed to sail on the river. They have to large of water displacements

Good point

Anyone ever looked at the Thames/London? Or certain BB and Sub museums in American cities?

These are river harbours.

So, while BBs and CVs should ofc not be able to travel up the Danube up to Vienna, they should be allowed to travel up river some bit, as is possible omn some maps on Ukranian rivers.

CAs and DDs could ofc get a bit further.

I certainly do not always agree with Bosley, but the point Bosley is making, however, is correct.

The way rivers are drawn on maps is a bit amateuristic and stopping-continuing rivers are just plain weird.

An easy visual fix would have been to widen the river where you can't cross and to reduce width where you can cros. Now you have a series of long stretched lakes, rather than rivers.

Note this about the Great Lakes for instance:

Seagoing ships can enter the Great Lakes in North America via the Saint Lawrence Seaway, a system of locks, canals, and navigable rivers that connects the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean. The farthest distance that seagoing ships can travel inland is to the western end of Lake Superior, at the city of Duluth, Minnesota, and Superior, Wisconsin, in the United States. This is approximately 3,700 kilometers (2,300 miles) from the Atlantic Ocean.

Here are the key milestones along the route:

  1. Saint Lawrence Seaway: This system runs from the mouth of the Saint Lawrence River at the Atlantic Ocean to Lake Ontario. Ships use locks and canals to overcome elevation changes.
  2. Welland Canal: This canal connects Lake Ontario to Lake Erie, bypassing Niagara Falls and allowing ships to continue their journey.
  3. Lake Erie - Detroit River - Lake St. Clair - St. Clair River: These waterways connect Lake Erie to Lake Huron.
  4. St. Marys River: This river links Lake Huron to Lake Superior and includes the Soo Locks at Sault Ste. Marie. These locks are crucial for overcoming the elevation difference between the lakes and represent the last major obstacle for ships heading to Lake Superior.
Most seagoing ships that enter the Great Lakes are limited in size due to the dimensions of the locks along the Saint Lawrence Seaway. This is known as the Seawaymax dimensions:

  • Length: 225.5 meters (740 feet)
  • Width: 23.8 meters (78 feet)
  • Draft: 8.08 meters (26.5 feet)
In practice, large ocean-going ships often cannot travel beyond the lakes and must transfer cargo to specialized inland vessels, known as "Lakers" (ships specifically built for the Great Lakes). Seagoing ships that complete the entire route to Duluth, Minnesota, are less common than those that stop at ports on Lake Erie or Lake Huron.

In summary, Duluth, Minnesota, is the farthest inland seaport accessible to seagoing ships in North America, located at the western end of Lake Superior.

So, you are the type that always just follows, no matter what?

First of all, let me remind you herewith that you do not have to read my posts (nor the signature under it).

Secondly, I am excercising my right of free speech to protest the undeniably horrid dumbification changes.

Third, anyone who doesn't feel that the game has changed for the worst must be an awful strategy player.

Fourth, who are you to talk in plural 'we'? Are you royalty? If not, who is 'we', bc practically every dedicated player is disgusted by the changes.

Fifth and not the least: the post you react to was about the rivers, which Bosley made a valid point about. My river comment just serves to point out that Bosley has a valid point. Your's though; does it have a purpose?

And pls note that anyone can see that the account '=azaa' was just made today, which clearifies that the owner is some kind of 'ultimate loser', who is posing as someone else or hiding behind a pseudonym, while already having a forum account.

How low can you go? Pls show me bc I am not yet impressed :D :D :D

Why are you so mad? I can’t even read what you said.

bro i looked at the screenshot, makes me laugh ngl

Like how the heck do rivers stop in the middle of nowhere? why can't ships travel up them? I hope that they rectify this inspired nonsense quick. hpefully this isn't repeated in the HWW map lol

I think they should improve Rivers by making them continous and allowing ships to use them.

That has been suggested 1069 times already

Indeed. At least allowing ships as far as they could go in reality, like the Great lakes in North America.

How is it possible a battleship can sail a 1000 miles up de Danube on some maps, but they can't reach the sea from the Great Lakes?

LOL it is bad, the congo river goes halfway across africa and yet there are NO roads that cross YOU CANNOT MOVE AN ARMY ACROSS IT, most othgr rivers have roads that you can use use to embark and disembark from but not the congo.
