NEW UNIT: FLAMTHROWER

I have an idea for a new unit, that seems balanced, the FLAMETHROWER. It would be an unarmored land unit, infantry research tree. It would ignore bunkers and fortifications. It would be first available, as Allied doctrine, on day 3 and requires infantry level 2 research. It would have a 1-2 day early research and a +15% health for allies, no advantages as axis or comintern, and a disadvantage of 1-2 day late research as Pan-Asian.

Level one damage [Allied]:

Unarmored - 10 attack, 5 defense.

Light armor - 3 attack, 1 defense. :|

Heavy armor - 1 attack, 0.5 defense. :cursing:

Aircraft - 0.1 defense. :wallbash

Level one health [Comintern]:

20HP

Just like snipers or machine gunners. These are already assumed to be given to individuals within a standard infantry regiment. They didnโ€™t have units of just infantrymen with flamethrowers. Thatโ€™s not realistic at all.

To expand upon what the 6th Dragon has already said, a unit doesn't represent just what the thumbnail depicts. A plane doesn't represent one plane, an infantry unit isn't just the three infantry, a tank brigade isn't just one tanks. At full strength interceptor represents a whole squadron, or up to 30 planes.

Your typical Call of War infantry regiment would consist probably of five battalions. Each battalion might have between 180-200 riflemen, a machine-gun company with 12 heavy machine-guns, a pack artillery regiment (about 150 men with 100 battalion guns).

As well as the battalions, you would have a signal company, and most likely a regimental gun company with between 4 and 10 field guns. You'd also have packhorses, lorries, and other logistical equipment, In total, between 1,500 and 4,000 men including your flamethrowers. That's what your three riflemen on the thumbnail represent.

Aeroplanes are interesting toys but of no military value.

A pretty mechanical toy [...] the war will never be won by such machines.
