Nuclear limitation

Nuclear bombs would have to be limited for each player.

Actually, the idea of an anti-nuke unit does appeal to me, since it would fit into the theme of every unit has a counter-unit or a specialisation that makes sense, whereas the nuclear units have no counter, and destroy everything.

I dont really see any problems with the current nuclear theme, as far as i can remember nuclear bombers can be shot down before wreaking havoc. Indeed , Nuclear rockets cannot be countered and they shouldnot really for the lack of technology to do so.

A player that rushes for the A-rockets puts himself at considerable risks , as there is a long period where the opponents can react to him . Strategic bombers and rockets can easily mess up his plants to get nuclear armament, plus the need to research many nuclear techs weakens the conventional branches of the army for a period of time.

It's difficult to get nukes out easily with all the resource cost and initial upkeep on rare materials, there more of a end game weapons, it's better to use them on units but you have to time it right wasting it on cities is a waste of both time and resource.

There were no way to counter nukes during the Cold War, other than the MAD protocol which keep nuke armed states in check.

Uhhm, you guys talk of nukes being hard to get, I make them easy. It is not hard at all. Usually I can build one a day.

Does that include the research time, the resource cost, upkeep of nuke plants? It's difficult because it's an investment if you get it then congratulation, but if someone blitz you or won the race, then your in a bad spot.

Yes, you have, what, 30 days to capture enough lands and res to research all the way up to nukes, then build up said lands. In my current nuke game, at day 42, I have 8 lvl 3 A-bombers, 2 A-missiles on the way and I produce nearly 11k RM a day, while upkeeping two reactors and after building a third.

The most critical period on one's pursuit of nuclear armament is the period after your Nuclear reactor is built, thatis by day 16-18 , assuming that you research nuclear techs consistently then you would get Nuclear armament by day 30+

Now those are precious 10+ days for your enemy to do alot of things as i said , a smart enemy would bomb and rocket your reactors, use the tech advantage to gain control in battlefield , etc all that would delay and cause an enormous pain for the nuke rusher :) and so I dont really see the need for an anti nuke unit , besides the fact that the technology to counter a nuke was lacking

Why would you build the reactor straight away? I build it when get lvl 3 nuke research.

Even then , 3 days until you get your first bomber is alot for an enemy to bomb your building/delay your plans , and if he fails to do so he still can shoot down the Nuc. bomber if he is active enough and has some interceptors in hand, its certainly not game over

I build them far back from the lines so the enemy can't do that. Usually at this point it is only allies left, maybe a one or two people left. I will probably be winning with the biggest army.

Having heard of your cruel intentions Iam sure no one will let you survive to get your hands on these little monsters and everyone will just blitz through your provinces with medium and heavy armour while you are busy running half way through Nuclear Reactor lvl 3 research :)

Not a chance, I am a master strategist.

Only a fool can call himself a master strategist, arrogance is the folly of every general, never assume anything is certain especially in war, look what happen in Vietnam.

I'm not arrogant, I'm full of myself.

Same thing if you ask me, if your building nukes as the US and to a little extent UK, nukes are easy due to position, the problem of easy nuke path is you need a good navy and/or defense for it, and if the enemy manage to make a foothold then going a full nuke path is becoming less effective.

I have built nukes as US, UK, USSR and nearly Italy but I won before I could get them and I was miles behind on research as at one point I only had around 3 provinces left.

You play on a small map with 10 players? Of course, it's too fast for nuclear weapons. In the future, when there will be 45 players on the map of nuclear weapons for you will have a completely different value

That sounds good, then I could have a full blown war, not skirmishes.

Not really. Having self-confidence is a key factor for a good general.

Oh really (no sarcasm)? Tell me a game you're in, so we can both play.
