Meh. Bad idea. This is like saying we shouldn't need hats either, we can just put them in later since we don't build the hats.
Mess with the Bill, you get the scorn!
I don't think oil should be used in such a large amount to make tank ships or SPGs. Because think of it you would use or use little oil like 10. in my option this would add some realism. i mean look what the russians did during ww2

well i am not saying remove oil from tanks or the game. just when in the "produce" menu because in real life you don't really need oil to build the units only needed for the running of the unit
You do. Testing the tanks, oiling the machines, oiling the parts and whatnot.
I think if that were to happen, the metal needed would have to be increased. It would be far too easy to produce tanks.
You need to train the crew to operate the unit and that takes fuel.

At first, I was agreeing with you. Then I remembered how we (@ former job) would often incur a fuel surcharge when transporting steel from the steel factory (or port) to where the steel was needed for the manufacturing process.mrgreeen4567 wrote:

Then I thought about the Oil resource in CoW. Oil seems to represent 'crude oil' which would be refined for various other applications, including fuel for trucks that transport raw materials, to run the machines that make the product, lubrication of the machines (& the product itself), rust protection (storage) of finely machined parts, & etc.
Just saying, this could be what the developers were thinking when they made oil a prerequisite for certain things.
I agree with a twist. The oil costs for production really shouldn't be as high as they are, but not as low as OP suggests. However the daily upkeep costs for Oil should be significantly higher. Right now the upkeep costs are completely unrealistic. It costs me more in Food than it does Oil and I have 4x as many provinces providing Food as Oil. My Food costs are currently -800 in my best game, and thats with all provinces at max and all barracks disabled. But my Oil costs are +400 and I have 40 Tanks, 30 Aircraft, and 15 Naval vessels on the board. Meanwhile I only have 30 Infantry.
Note: Civilian population consumes Food, too.BrutalArt1st wrote:
