clicking on the unit icon will select/deselect all units of one type.
Opinion: Don't like the new split feature
I know it's really early days and I usually like new changes brought by Call of War, but in this instance, I don't like the new split army screen.
The reason is because I feel it makes it a little harder to split bigger armies. So with the old feature, you could click a button next to a certain unit and it would either give you zero, or all the units of that type. You could also click a button where only that unit type (i.e. I want only the light tanks in my army) were selected.
Now that those two particular features are gone, I think it will be harder to split large armies which have a diverse range of units. What I do like however is that it's now easier to have the exact amount of units you want. If the two features above were brought back in, then it would be perfect!
I'm interested to hear what everyone else thinks as well.

I never like changes and in this case it's because of i used split screen to remove 1-2 units from the stack to stay in place and then give the rest of the stack a new order. That way i didn't have to use the bad UI to try click the main stack to choose it again(Why in the world do i have to zoom the map to be able to pick units?). Now i have to slide every unit manually from zero to what ever number i need it to go. Sucks heavily for me. At least put MIN-50/50-MAX buttons on top so i can quickly choose the option i need for me.
edit:Found out you can choose max by clicking the unit icon. That doesn't help much, i already was clicking the sliders to set max units per unit type. I still have to click every unit type and then subtrack the units i want to stay behind. Whatever..
It is becoming a bit too "flattened and advanced" in a way that they want to change everything but it really doesn't make sense. I still believe in the select all of one type of unit button.
Hi, thanks for the feedback.willeam5th wrote:

A couple of things:
You can click on the unit icons to select all or deselect all units of that type.
We designed the new split menu for the most common use case in our view, which is separating a bunch of units from a bigger stack. E.g. because you want to send out scouts or split your artillery off from your main stack.
To make that easier all units are now at 0 amount when opening the menu. Because of this we don't need a button anymore to only select this type, since you just need to click on a unit picture to do so now. This selects all units of that type while all other units are already deselected.
I know the reverse use case where you want to split off most units and leave behind single units now requires more clicks, but in the old menu that was true as well for some use cases.
Another reason is that we did not want to overload the panel with alot of buttons anymore cos they were quite confusing to most new users. And finally we also wanted to have the same version on mobile and desktop for easier maintenance and implementation, and adding more buttons to the mobile interface is not an option.
I still believe in the select all of one kind of unit
Which you can still do by clicking on the unit icon.Ryan04px2025 wrote:

Since all others are deselected by default you can quickly click on the unit icon of the troop you want to split off and then give your order.
Yes, but this thread wouldn't be here if it wasn't for that.freezy wrote:

The picture of a unit does not suggest any kind of "action" except perhaps "tell me more about this unit".
That would be a nice addition, by the way.
Why can't I rely on the picture to always tell me more about the building or unit?
That's consistent and something people might use.
But replacing a "select all" button with a unit icon does not make sense.
Nor does it translate to any other UI in the game.
It's a strange one-off thing that people will struggle with.
You can click on info outside the select unit tabz00mz00m wrote:

I was unaware that by clicking on the unit picture you could select just that unit. It just isn't clear enough.

Yes, I know, and the fact that the unit icon does different things on different screens is the essence problem.
i agree with , i don't even know why did they make this change .
