Paratrooper Unit

Having played a decisive role in WW2 , the Paratrooper unit would make a perfect historical and strategical addition to Call of War 1942.

Here is how I think they would fit in.

Paratrooper - Airborne Brigade

Normal infantrymen that are dispatched in thousands into the skies from a transport airplane making them a unit with strategic value. They excel at being deployed behind enemy lines for capturing or disrupting strategic locations , or acting as a shock troop for defending key locations.

(The unit will be researched from the Air Tree)

Pros:

- Transport planes have good range

- Fast travel time , allows infantry to arrive at destination much quicker than by foot /land vehicles

- Strength multiplier in Urban and Forest terains, due to more effective camouflaging and sabotaging potential

- Increase in airtransport research level allows more infantry units to be transported per plane, besides increasing unit

strength

- Same stats as normal infantry men, they are basically transported via transport plane

Cons:

- Research of paratrooper/air transport plane is much later and longer than infantry or militia's research, on day 8+ and takes atleast one day

- Easily destroyed by defending infantry, interceptors and anti air artillery stationed in target province, all infantry transported die along with the transport plane.

-Strength debuff in Mountain and plain terrains, due to being more exposed

Requirements:

Infantry and Tactical bomber to be researched

Airbase level 2

Industrial Complex level 1

Also discussed in this thread: Paratroopers.

Was happy to see that the majority agree with the unit, although my view discusses the unit more indepth and how would it fit in, I think it would both drastically improve strategy and is historically accurate!

This being the third or fourth Paratrooper thread, I think Butter Ball Bill is going to blow a gasket. (BBB: Not an attack, just an observation on your aggressiveness with responses to this idea, i.e. the incident between you and Lukebnm) I agree with him that the unit type was not very successful in WW2, but it was present in WW2. And thanks to all of the war movies and TV series exaggerating their effectiveness, everybody seems to want them.

Everyone wants them, but I don't think byro will put them, even if they did I don't know how it can fit in the game. seriously present or not the paratrooper thing is a bad idea, they will be fodder for anti-air guns, and only infantry strenght, we are spending oil for an infantry that is not mechanized just to deploy these guys.

The idea for implement the paratroopers into the game, is that they are a upgrade from the commandos. This unit will works like the nuclar-bombers.

After researching the paratroops you must build in your capital a transport-plane. If you give the attack command to this plane on a point you want, the plane starts and if it reach the point the plane will switch into a normal commando-unit. This works only one time for each paratroopers.

Real Life airborne infantry during WW2 are just ordinary infantry and not commandos, their job is to secure bridges and undefended towns until the main army arrives, they are also armed with rifles and grenades the most heavy equipment they carry are light MG that is paradrop with them and no anti-armour weapon but grenades. Making them commandos is one way which is not a bad idea atleast there better than ordinary infantry.
