In the later game once rockets come into play, an effective way to protect your troops is to keep them moving. There are also times when you want to cover a large area with a small group of units looking for incoming trouble. This can be done manually with the add target button on a stack and select multiple dots on a defined course. However, it is a time consuming task that has to be repeated once the stack reaches its terminus (last add target).
What I would like to see added is a patrol button. When selected for the unit, you would set a patrol pattern of x number of province centers/sea dots with the last selected being the same as the start point. The stack would than loop around the course until told to do something different, or it ran into a hostile unit and battle commenced.
Programming: Perhaps when add target is selected, a check box could be added for "patrol" and when selected the feature would activate, otherwise the add target would act as it currently does.
This would be a great feature when on patrol for enemy subs, or when you are not in a state of war, but want to protect against either surprise attack or a missile strike by an unknown enemy.

land mines seem like a good idea. good bye to the tanks that so many spam
This would be a good feature, too many times have I lost troops, even to AI, because someone decided to dump 20 rockets on one province.
Completely agree for naval units. Nevertheless, land units seems a bit pushed... Historically speaking, the bulk of your division will always remain in one city, so CallOfWar isn't far off. Sure it could cover from rocket attacks, but that would be an unfair advantage. For now, just make them go back and forth or move them back from the line.
