Yep, there is no fixed peace period end date, it all depends on when the game round was created. As RiverWolf alludes to, if the peace period is for example 12h, then you should join a game round ~12h earlier than you want it to end. Usually game rounds are created every hour or so, so it should be reasonably close to the date you want.

yes, but many of the fun maps happen to all appear at once, for example rush for Europe, and yea, they just all appear at once.

I have the "peace period ends at just when I'm asleep" problem too, sadly devs can't adjust it for every timezone so like said above players have to adjust themselves.
