Disagree, if a dude wants to call himself anything let him
He can call himself Hitler or Stalin or anything, i don't care as long as he doesn't advocate politics
Politics is an off limits topic in game - this is good and something the vast majority of players can agree with (myself included)
There are many players who name themselves after current/recent political figures, I can understand why - they see the politicians as personal heroes, however, the names themselves often provoke a political 'discussion'.
Please put some thought into enforcing the no politics rule completely - including player names. Thank you for your time in reading, and hopefully responding.

Nah, not Hitler. Shitler. Big improvement.TheZhukov wrote:

Hitler/Stalin are not what I would consider "current/recent" ... I mean, I'm old, but not that old lol
The game also does prompt historical names as leaders before active players choose countries.
Thinking more along the lines of when two players named after current leaders meet (for example - current leaders of ..... Ukraine/Russia ... Israel/Hamas .... the last two US presidential candidates ...etc) a politically based discussion is likely to develop
Could just be because I occupy the wrong parts of the forum, but I've been here for around a year and I've never seen this happen.critterr wrote:

I think he meant the game, where people change their game names to Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin or some form of that after taking their country in the game. Usually those players also tend to suck and go inactive.
I expect some of the people who do that are doing so in the interests of roleplaying.
Not to say there aren't any who do so for the reasons outlined in the OP.
Sometimes itβs just trolling. Those players start saying they are the best, everyone else sucks and is gay, then suicide their units into countries around and go inactive.
Players like that usually take care of themselves after a few days at most.
People name themselves after political figures because it's funny. I doubt any of them are doing it for hero worship.
Technically using Hitler is banned by German law and Bytro is a German company headquartered there. So I donβt think youβre allowed to by TOS.
20 hour wait, and still counting, for posts to be approved makes me question the usefulness of this forum.
I saw this one guy make some "interesting" posts in the newspaper.Carking the 6th wrote:

He share mapped everyone and we all watched as he sent his units crawling across the Atlantic and into France.
It worked.

yes, this is my first post/comment made in forum - made after suggestion from an in-game chat mod .... i can understand why there is a need to approve new participants - where i find this forum unworkable is post#4 on this thread (submitted over 30 hours ago) is still pending

Funny, I remember in 1.0, there was one map where the name of the German AI (before a player joined as Germany) was Adolf Hitler. Not sure if thatβs still there tho.Carking the 6th wrote:

You report them and they get taken down.
Political discussions are inevitable. This is a war game and politics go hand in hand with war, this whole game app creates the "political discussions"(which I don't mind, I like Call of War and I'm well disciplined not to participate or entertain political discussions.
As for the names, it's just because it's a game in a WW2 era and players will name themselves the leaders that existed, for instance, when I played a 1939 HWW map I played as the Union of South Africa and named myself General Jan Smuts,it was that or General Louis Botha. If it was in different eras names like Genghis Khan,Alexander the great,Ceaser, Shaka Zulu, Saladin etc
Politics is a human disease,as long as players are not racist and offensive in the chat and newspaper or private messages they can call themselves whatever they want... will it create any discussion if I call myself John Holmes?
Wishful thinking. I've tried that and it didn't work. About a year ago, a guy had changed his flag to the nazi flag and was dropping all kinds of gold on the map. I reported him and tried to hang in there. Two weeks later, the game ended with him still using the nazi flag and no action taken by Bytro.Carking the 6th wrote:
