I think we need to add PT boats. They would patrol like planes, and be able to break away from a fight like planes. They would be fairly fragile, and not be able to inflict a lot of damage, but they would be very fast.
Interesting idea, but aren't subs the ideal patrollers already ? They're invisible, have a circle of vision effectively simulating a patrol circle, and are very effective against unprotected ships. Only drawback is they're not too fast but then again, it would be unrealistic to have PT boats cross the ocean.
What function would they serve? Sorry to seem to "shut down" your idea, but their function is already served by destroyers/submarines. Furthermore, having very very little damage output, they would get shredded for nothing.
u r not shutting down anything. If you read the post, u would know what function. To patrol/scout. I said they would patrol like planes, and be able to break away from a fight like planes. And they would be fast. Highly functional, and maybe even OP for the game. If you could could scout out the ocean quickly, you would know where to send your convoy and its escorts.
What a Stupid idea boats can't patrol only planes.
I still maintain that there are other ways to scout, but your idea does have a very serious benefit : to break away without a fight. I like that, sorry for misreading it at first.Dixie wrote:
