When a province is captured, many buildings are intact. Some of these high level buildings have been captured by me or been captured and used against me. I suggest the ability to demolish/scorch buildings in a province with no refunds. I also suggest an additional feature to deactivate some buildings like you can in S1914. These abilities will help with resource management and slowing down enemy advances. It's a shame that this is not in the game yet since scortched earth policies played such a big role in wars.

To be honest with you, this sounds like Fallout.

My father once said this: β€œIf you don’t know anything, don’t assume you know and don’t say anything you don’t know is true”
I always got annoyed when he said that, but to be honest he’s kinda right if you think about it
Have a good day!

What does this have to do with any Fallout game?

To be honest, this could be abused, this might sound insulting, but why let your factories fall in the first place.

I don't win every war, and neither does anyone. There is always a losing side, and how could this be abused? If you're talking about how it could make an enemy advance slower, that's what a scorched earth policy is. If people do this not during wartime, it just degrades their country and does nothing. If you do it during wartime, the enemy can't use any of your infrastructure but you cannot use it either and you don't get a refund.

Ok, this would be abused because IRL factories were captured and used against their former owners. Any losing player would destroy everything, which would limit the benefits of defeating any player. This game is like a simulation, maybe partial destruction would be better. As for the second comment, I meant why build your factories close to the front, no offense intended, I also lose sometimes and no one is perfect.

@Lady Aragosta made a very similar suggestion. The consensus was similar to Zhukov’s.

I kinda see the point, but I still stand by being able to deactivate or demolish certain buildings like the secret lab or special buildings so that way they cannot be used, if you still disagree I would say a daily limit. And am I supposed to build airbases at the far end of my country? When a war starts you need most factories or bases to be relatively near the front so units can get there quicker. Also tying into the concept of having captured buildings, I typically would rebuild them for cheaper which can sometimes be closer to borders than I want.

In the thread where I brought this up, a suggestion came up where deconstruction, like construction, isn't an immediate effect but something that happens over time and with a resource sink (taking less time if the building is already damaged or still under construction, but otherwise needing as much time to be demolished as it would to be built in the first place). That way an enemy still has a chance of capturing a somewhat-intact building, but has a time limit, and they stand to be inconvenienced even if they do capture it quickly. (And if the enemy is bombarding the province with the building in it, its deconstruction is sped up.)

There was no consensus on this compromise either, but there it is.

W suggestion

As someone who egotistically helped develop it, good idea.

I don't remember who initially came up with it.

Me neither, but I know I backed it so I’m taking credit as a genius

CarKing the 6th of the Abrahamic Caliphate

I backed it up too. Do I get to be a genius as well?

Yes, big brain

CarKing the 6th of the Abrahamic Caliphate

It's already big, but how much of it is used for anything useful is up for debate.

If you get a liberal arts degree… rest in peace

I'd like to be annoyed, but my observation of other art students (who may or may not include myself) regrettably confirm that.

I'm doing the fine art course, which may be slightly better or slightly worse. Unless I do both it's hard to tell.

I wouldn't be opposed to this. People saying that it'll be abused are being silly. There's a lot of things that get abused in this game. Ranged units and their absolute dominance in the meta for one. People just popping a thousand cards as soon as they get in trouble, for another. There's no counter-play against these.

Scorched Earth can be countered by fast units, provided the deconstruction timer were adequate. Airborne, motorized units, etc would have a renewed value for fast-capping cities that are likely to be scorched.

This is one of the oldest recurring suggestions on this forum; it just so happens that it wasn't re-suggested for a while, so I'm afraid no one gets credit.

I for one, think the regular destruction of buildings during capture is quite harsh enough as it is. Lets be honest, most of your conquered territory usually has zero buildings or some half-destroyed barracks or smth, some positive exceptions aside. Do you guys really want those to be demolished as well? Conquest should always be a march into a waisteland? Heavens, you guys must all be masochists...
